Name: Vieri di Adatto Isabello
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Group: Seeker
Homeworld: The Early Renaissance: 1448 CE
Occupation: Banker and Mafia Leader
Face Claim: Boku no Hero Academia - Katsuki Bakugo
Appearance:
5ft 8in, 159 lbs, medium build but very muscled. He’s far from the largest man out there, but Vieri certainly has a very large presence to him. He makes exactly zero effort to be subtle or quiet or use an indoor voice; while too in his own head to appear very attention seeking, he does display a blatant disregard and lack of respect for anyone else. His face is stuck in a perpetual glare, ranging from irked to “will blow a hole in the nearest wall”, and his overall demeanor shows no signs of backing down even to those who could easily throw him into the nearest wall. His style alternates between his native old renaissance clothing and tougher modern articles meant for physical activity depending on his mood and his need. While he usually keeps a comb in his bag or pocket for the reason of his powers, it only takes one crackle of electricity to make all his platinum blond hair stand on end like it’s been rubbed with a balloon. He puts more effort into keeping it clean than keeping it neat.
Talents:
Business and economics: Vieri’s father raised him to be a banker. While his education isn’t as solid as an economics major, he understands how to navigate a market and close good business deals (whether force was involved or not).
Biology: The subject is about as related to his real job as swimming, but Vieri knows as much about biology as his free hours and books will let him, and he takes up the subject with surprising speed. What false information he picked up from his age he’s been slowly replacing with more modern textbooks on cells and homeostasis.
Technology: Despite being from before even the concept of an electric machine to do your math was a thing, Vieri has taken quickly to modern day technology. Still far from an expert - he’s only had a year to become accustomed to electric lights and the internet - if he focuses his efforts on one specific technological thing, he can usually figure it out pretty quickly.
Mathematics: Vieri was one of those kids who figured out simple mathematical formulas to entertain himself. Numbers were good friends because they didn’t call him names, and he’s always gotten along with them quite well.
Getting into fights: An opportunity to jump on a fight isn’t something Vieri ever passes up, even if it’s not exactly intentional. Growing up in the mob and the need to defend himself means he’s skilled in melee fighting, though his style edges more towards brawling than any sort of discipline.
Studying: For all his yelling and property damage, Vieri is actually quite driven to learn and very good at just sitting down and working through materials, as long as his environment is free of distractions.
Personality:
If one imagined the most friendly, cheerful, and endlessly patient person; the sort who could turn any bad day into a good one and loved everyone around them unconditionally, Vieri would be the exact opposite of that. If there is something to be angry about, he will find it and gladly share it with the world by being about as abrasive as sandpaper. If one sees him with a smile outside of combat, one can safely assume either they’re about to be thrust into combat or something else has gone terribly wrong. He snaps like a twig, be the reason an insult thrown his way, a challenge to him, or even just a low grade on a test.
Vieri is blunt and unafraid to speak whatever he thinks however he wants to say it. Very few topics are beyond what he’s willing to discuss, including politics, morality, or exactly what he thinks of the person he’s talking to. He also takes insults or challenges to his pride about as well as paper takes to water, and rather than taking a breath and removing himself from the situation, he tends to take a step forward and aggravate the situation farther. The size and strength of the person in question are not a factor, even if the confrontation escalates into a fight. Though, chances are high he was the one to escalate it there.
He is, however, quite reliable. He keeps his promises, and if someone needs his help, they only need to ask. He expects the same in return and he is the sort to hold a grudge for years, sometimes even after an apology, but most will find him willing to lend them a hand between a bit of grumbling. Driven and focused to the point of sometimes thinking about little else, if he takes up a job, he’ll see it through; and if someone’s depending on him, he won’t let them drop.
In battle, Vieri has very little regard for the wellbeing of himself or the property around him. It can sometimes even seem as though he’s going out of his way to break things. He’s always one of the first - if not the first - to rush in at the sound of battle, guns blazing and adrenaline-fueled smile ready. His near single-minded focus to fight his foe until either he wins or he gets knocked out can often leave him with broken bones, but he considers it plenty worth the trade. The one thing that tends to break his assault is the safety of his allies; though it tends mostly to show up as him getting in the face of their enemy before they can harm his ally, he will gladly take someone else’s punch.
Vieri’s ego can be spotted from a mile away. He won’t necessarily claim he’s the best, and he won’t refuse to admit when someone is clearly better at him than something, but he absolutely will not stand for someone claiming they’re above him. It warrants immediate action to either make them take it back or prove them definitively wrong. By extension, it gives him some major problems with authority, and his lack of respect or consideration for others tends to give authority major problems with him. Picking fights with teachers as far as they’ll humor it is practically a passtime of his.
Vieri’s goal is to increase his reach and his power, but strength is a means to an end; with more areas, economic or physical, under his control, the more resources he’ll have at his disposal. The time he spends out of the classroom and away from home is normally spent in a lab, mixing test tubes and putting together new tests in attempts at discovering the secrets of magic. Curiosity has always been a driving force of his, but when his power surfaced, it really got the better of him. It’s an unknown puzzle he’s determined he will be the one to solve, no matter what it takes him to do so.
History:
Born in Florence, Vieri is the son of a banker and present owner of said bank. He was known as the kid who would break the nose of anyone who even looked at him wrong, even if they were the first heir of a wealthy merchant - a trait that ran in the family, apparently, given how his father ran his bank. Over his childhood, his father’s methods grew more and more similar to a mafia, using extortion, blackmail, and the deep loyalty of his men to secure his bank a spot as one of the most influential in the city. Vieri and his little sister were raised to one day take over this bank and carry on the tradition of asking for payment or else.
He now heads the Isabello Bank, known for its relatively low interest rates, somewhat alarmingly large customer base, and the extreme loyalty of its workers. Quiet whispers say that money can be handed under the table to have a problem a customer may be having… quelled, and may also be given to ensure they don’t get listed as someone else’s problem. Rumors have linked a couple of disappearances and a couple of corpses to people under the employ of the Isabello bank, but any solid proof has a tendency to disappear before it can reach any court. Some say the judges would believe the Isabello’s money and good graces over the evidence even if it did.
Employees of the Isabello Bank are known to be paid better than the average bank worker; some of them considerably better. All have the Isabello family at their back, and many find funding for their own personal endeavors, especially scientific ones. In return, each and every one of them is deathly loyal to the bank. Some say the moment someone even thinks about betraying the family or the business, they’re tossed from the company with a few broken bones as a reminder never to come back. Those who actually go through with betraying the family are rarely heard from afterwards.
Up until about nine months ago, the bank was headed by Vieri’s father, Adatto di Mone Isabello. He ran it with cold logistics and began the extortion tactics and loyalty - two things which once Vieri took over have only increased. The bank has since absorbed another small Florentine bank and there’s talk of it expanding bases out into other cities.
Vieri came upon his powers about two years ago, and the academy sometime last year. While a large portion of his time there is spent honing his powers - although that usually isn’t his main reason for getting himself into combat - he actually spends a fairly sizable amount of time tucked away in his room and the scientific portions of the school. Within the academy, he’s still known as the kid who will break your nose for looking at him wrong, and is known for picking fights even in the middle of class, including with the teachers.
Magic Overview:
Vieri can manipulate electricity. Besides accidentally exploding light bulbs around him, he can purposefully blow up electrical wires and devices, and add a powerful electric kick to his punches. The electricity arcing between his hands and the powerful arc explosion only a thought away tend to make him rather easy to spot on a battlefield. His physical strength, and especially his speed, are also a jump above most human’s abilities, and he seems to be able to take a bit more of a beating than most flesh and bones humans. Getting the drop on him is also quite difficult, even if the person is purposefully quiet and sneaky. Games of hide and seek are not recommended.
Note: Though not nearly as advertised as his other powers, Vieri also has very basic, surface-level thought reading abilities. My default with them will be to go at most as far as what’s written in the other’s post. I’ll be sure to bring this power up before one-on-one threads, but please send me a message either here or on discord if you’d like to opt out of it, temporarily or permanently. We might be able to get plots out of it! Same goes if you think your character would be immune to the effect or they’ve got something else strange with their brain you’d like him to pick up on.
