To buy a power, immunity, trait, or perk, PM all staff members. You can do so by clicking this link. Once you get the confirmation PM, edit your secret sheet to reflect the purchase.
Increasing your character's power is done by spending Impact. 1 Impact is gained for each in-character post (including battle posts, though posts made on mobile will not automatically grant Impact because of the limitations of Proboards). Participating in an Incursion grants Impact equal to the highest Zenith on the enemy team. Winning an Incursion can also give additional Impact depending on the choice your side's leader makes.
Impact is used to purchase Power Levels. Each Power Level can increase a single power or immunity by one level. There are also some traits that cost a number of Power Levels which must all be bought at once. So, since new characters start at Power Level 15, the sum of all their powers, immunities, and trait costs must add up to 15.
So, a starting character buys her first five Power Levels for 120 Impact each. This puts her at Power Level 20, and then she pays 240 Impact for each of the next ten levels, and so on.
A purchase may be made during a scheme, but the purchase may not be used during the scheme unless it is made 24 hours before the first turn's action sending deadline.
Unpredictable
Cost: 10 levels
Select one of your powers and one of your immunities. Label them as "flexible." Flexible powers and immunities can have their types switched before battle (no more than 24 hours after the first mod post). Flexible powers cannot be used to qualify for other traits.
Overwhelming
Cost: 10 levels
Your powers cannot be suppressed by powers and immunities 3 or more levels below them, and they do not trigger Prediction powers 3 or more levels below them.
Versatile
Cost: 10 levels
Your maximum number of powers is 4 instead of 3.
Protected
Cost: 5 levels
Your maximum number of immunities is 4 instead of 3.
Teamwork
Cost: 1 level (may be bought multiple times)
Every time this trait is bought, list another character and a power type that at least one of you can use. In order for this trait to work, that character must buy a matching Teamwork trait that names you. In battle, you can both spend your actions to produce a single team power of the listed type, but with a power level 3 points higher than you'd normally be able to use. This power is always treated as though it's being used with the Overwhelming trait.
Synergy
Cost: 1 level (may be bought multiple times)
Every time this trait is bought, list another character. In order for this trait to work, that character must buy a matching Synergy trait that names you. Whenever you are on the same side as this character in battle, all your immunities are treated as one level higher. This bonus maxes out at three additional levels, each of which must come from synergy with a different character.
Espionage
Cost: 3 levels (2 levels if both power requirements are met)
Requires: Level 3+ Illusion or Sense
After each battle, you may target one other character by PMing the staff and will learn the exact levels of the target's powers and immunities in addition to any traits the target has. If the same target is chosen multiple times, then additional pieces of information related to the target's backstory or secrets might also be revealed.
Third Option
Cost: 3 levels (2 levels if both power requirements are met)
Requires: Level 3+ Field or Deduction
Whenever you're on the winning side of a battle, the leader of your side will have a third choice for determining the battle's spoils. This choice will often give overall better rewards than the other two. There is no additional benefit for having more than one person with this trait on the winning side.
Notorious
Cost: 2 levels (1 level if both power requirements are met)
Requires: Level 3+ Subdual or Corruption
Before the first round of each Incursion, all characters on the enemy side get +5 Zenith. This increases the Impact and Zenith you'll gain if you beat them as normal.
Unstoppable
Cost: 2 levels (1 level if both power requirements are met)
Requires: Level 3+ Force or Absorption
In event battles, status effects prioritize targeting you. However, you automatically recover from all status effects at the end of the following turn.
Hidden Power
Cost: 3 levels (2 levels if both power requirements are met)
Requires: Level 3+ Disruption or Enhancement
In event battles, all your powers and immunities are treated as being 3 levels higher, and your combat advantage gains earn an extra multiplier.
Respite
Cost: 2 levels (1 level if both power requirements are met)
Requires: Level 3+ Protection or Obstruction
In event battles, in between phases you can pick two allies and remove one status effect from each of them. Alternatively, you can pick the same ally twice in order to remove two status effects.
In addition to buying powers and immunities with Impact, you can also get some other benefits with your postcount alone. You don't need to "spend" postcount to get these perks, and the postcounts of all your accounts together are added together to determine what you're eligible for.
Claim a Hideout
Requirement: 50 posts
This allows you to create a sub-board which can optionally be invite-only so you can strategize and share secrets with your allies away from prying eyes. If the board is invite-only, this might be a concealed portal to a particular spot in the multiverse, or it might be a room hidden behind one of the academy's many secret passageways. If not, then it might be a full expansion to the Academy or a new portal to a major city. When you take this perk, you can also found a team (which will have access to the new board if it's hidden). Successful Incursions may be able to turn a team into a full-fledged group. To claim this perk, PM all staff with what you want the board to be called, where you want the board to be located, whether you want the board to be hidden, and what you want the board's description to be. If you decide to found a team, include what you want the team's name to be. Make sure to send the PM from the account that you want to lead the team.
Notable Poster
Requirement: 100 posts
This incentive is for those who use our Discord server. Once you have this many posts, let us know and we'll give your Discord username a color of your choice!
Make an Archmage
Requirement: 150 posts
This allows you to make a single starting character with Power Level up to 30. This could be an older mage who's accumulated great power over time, or it could just be a recent prodigy. Starting characters can never have a higher Power Level than the current highest-level character on the site. You can also found a second team.
Discover a Universe
Requirement: 300 posts
You can define a new universe, which then gets its own top level board. You can pick what year it is, choose which cities get their own sub-boards within it, and decide any major historical differences between it and our universe. Players can make characters who come from the universe you define, but note that your universe might be targeted in event battles. You can also found a third team and make a starting character up to Power Level 45.
Additional perks are awarded every 300 posts beyond this. That means that at 600 posts, you can found a fourth team, make a starting character up to Power Level 60, and discover a second universe.
