In the year 2012, a mysterious illness began to sweep the globe. In its wake, those who survived it were left with immensely powerful supernatural abilities.
As the number of people capable of wielding magic powers increased, they began to organize and seize control of the course of history. Using their powers to travel between parallel universes, these mages forge empires of a scale never before seen. And at the center of it all is the Academy, a neutral institution founded for mages to share their knowledge with each other.
Mages struggle against each other to impose their will upon the multiverse, but there is one threat that unites them all together. In recent months, mysterious entities have appeared. These entities wield power far greater than any one mage, and they seem determined to annihilate all of humanity. The mages will have to set aside their differences in order to beat them. The fate of the multiverse depends on it.
Diana was more than happy to let Vieri's precious animal friends swarm him and inflict the same pain on him that they were on her. But it looked like she was going to get more than she bargained for as a knife came flying out of nowhere and pinned one of the birds pecking at her ankles to Vieri's leg. The knife hit the bird right in the gut, meaning it wasn't going to die instantly. It struggled against the knife, flailing pathetically as blood starting running down its white feathers and onto Vieri's leg. She could probably save it if the knife came out of it soon enough, but that was the last thing on her mind right now. Shit was about to go down because this was definitely the wrong kind of mad to try to inflict on Vieri, especially given everything else that was going on.
Even though she just ran towards him, she quickly turned around and started running away from Vieri. Having a few desks between her and him seemed like a good idea right now, even if she was probably safer than most people because of her hoard of animal friends. She leaned against the wall, still trying to keep the animals from doing more damage than they could.
"Okay, you can't seriously blame me for that. Who uses pigeons in their fucking attacks anyway?" Diana mumbled to herself before speaking loudly again. "So you guys just set off a bomb. You might want to get out of here. I'm just saying."

This girl- Vieri legitimately couldn’t tell if she was actually as capable as her words were fluffing her up to be or just stumbling upon it with a smile. It did nothing for helping him gauge threats and was just more fluffy sunshine about seeing things from other people’s point of view, like he was actually going to act on their wishes and desires. If he had any intention of ‘looking out for his fellow students’ or ‘being kind’ he wouldn’t be in this room in the first place. All this feel good friendship and kindness shit was pissing him off.
“Knock me down a few pegs? Who the hell do you-”
The answer to how good his balance was a little unfairly answered. Tristan would get his whole head and shoulders and an angry because he was confused look from Vieri, and Vieri himself was preparing to have to punch a hole in yet another moving building.
He heard the loud burst of pain that didn’t belong to any of the mages but an animal behind him the moment before the knife dug into the side of his leg. It was deep enough in to stay firmly lodged in his muscle, even already running through the gut of the bird. He was cut off by a grunt of pain and fell backwards off of Tristan, his back hitting the chair and his butt the floor in a manor that’d be comical if not for the bleeding out bird pinned to his leg.
As he looked down and finally put the spark of pain to a being, he felt panic start to rise up in his chest. It was almost calming, in a way, as his brain took longer to process what was happening and his body to react. His leg stung, enough so that he knew he wasn’t going to be able to walk on it. He could probably pull himself up as long as he didn’t expect to put any weight on that leg, but he couldn’t haul himself up without risking making the bird’s injury worse. Mages, they could weather stuff like this. Powers being flung at them, getting caught in the middle of a battle field; it was basically all daily practice. Little birds didn’t stand a chance against a mage’s attack. He pulled his leg in closer to him and cupped his hand against the edge and hilt of the knife, so that at least wouldn’t move. The blood was coming out fast and coating his hands. He could hear the panic and pain in he bird, slowly growing dimmer as the cold fatigue began to overtake it.
He looked first up at the witch like his head had been yanked, then to Scales. Any amusement or laziness was gone. He was yelling as loudly has he had in the past, but there was a crack to it that hadn’t been there before.
“You thoughtless fuckwits, how fucking careless are you?! If you wanted this to be some fun little game you should’ve left the animals out of it! Who the hell are you to go throwing around their lives?! You told me you were protecting them, Scales! You wanted to help them! You fought Diana when she stabbed one, didn’t you?! Where the hell is that now?!”

Kaida's head swiveled and froze at the sight before her, and an intelligible roar was her only reaction, only to be cut off with a snap of her jaws. Quite suddenly, she was very, very quiet, especially so when Vieri started his squawking. Her head hurt from the previous blow. She could barely see. She did not need a fucking blame game here.
"I didn't make it attack in such a way. Nor could I make it dodge a damn knife!" This should have sounded like a lie, but she continued, "Nature. Helps. Me!" She roared, and none of the animals moved away from, as if proving her claim. "I can't control them! They would have beat themselves bloody on their damn cage if I left them there, because they help me fight!" Every word she spouted was true, there was no mind control present in her magic, nature converged on her and protected her because it wanted to, not because of any mind control.
A baleful eye rolled towards the girl, "Trust me." Her voice boomed, "I'll deal with her later." She left no room for doubt, "Get your buddy to heal it, I know she can, and get out, I have better things to do, better than saving some stupid girl." This was a bad idea, she should have smashed the girl into the floor now, left her to fight her own fight. But she had to finish this first. "Should have never gotten involved." Her words grumbled a tiny voice, directed at the girl, who she itched to scratch.

Faye felt her nervous laugh come back in full force, her whole body shaking before the sight of the bloody bird caused her to feel her stomach twist, and she leaned down, pressing her hands on her bent knees. "Ew, ew, ew! That was so not part of my show! You were going to be bloody, not the dove!" She laughed again, this was just like the ringmaster killing some poor sap of a dove back at the circus! She straightened herself back out, arms wrapped around her stomach, and preparing some sort of comment, taking a deep breath.
Both movements quickly changed. First Faye rose her eyebrows at the girl, what was she talking about? Then she slammed her teeth together as the boy really yelled at her, far nastier sounding than what he sounded like earlier, and far louder too. Her hands flew to hug her hat again, yelling above the boy. Still, she lost her typical announcer type voice, and she wanted to slap herself, what performer lost their cool like this? "Who's Scales?! That's not me, I told you, I'm Faye! And I didn't do much to the animals except kill only one little bird! I'll replace it, then you don't have to yell!" She brightened up quickly, loosening her grip on her hat. Yeah, she'll replace the dove and everything will fix itself.
Then the snake spoke. Faye blinked a few times before spouting off with an overly large smile. "I guess I'm a ditz, what else is new, am I right!? But you have to say getting involved was a-ok, especially for me, so thank you!" Faye clearly did not get how this could be getting annoying, even kicking out her feet as she spoke, almost like she was messing with an audience, not opponents, and angry opponents at that. Not to mention angry allies.

Whatever Tristan had actually missed in the seconds it took him to teleport, it was apparently far more pressing than what he expected would initially be seen by the Isabello's as the arrival of a new enemy. Instead, as he gathered the scene and listened to the shouting, it became pretty clear that he had been upstaged by the bird that was currently pinned to Sparky. Under other circumstances, he'd probably make a joke (probably to himself) and scoot over to the sidelines to lend a hand however he could. Under other circumstances, though, he'd be the guy with the giant target on his back as far as both sides would be concerned. He may have actually gotten lucky this time around, though the fact that it was at the expense of an innocent animal didn't really make him happy.
He briefly considered helping Sparky up, given his own involvement in the fall, but seeing how the other mage was handling the bird, it was probably for the best if he didn't get within arms' reach. He teleported near to Diana, but also just far enough that he shouldn't have to worry about the bulk of the animals deciding to switch targets. "So, uh, when you say 'bomb', what kind are we talking about, here, and as opposed to what kind of bomb he would classify as normally?"
He was pretty sure he was going to need to make a quick escape, because there was no way in hell that Vieri wasn't going to pull out his old standby of "explode everything in anger". Tristan could probably figure out a way to get the animals out of harm's way - he couldn't say he'd ever made a net before but how hard could it be - but the main concern was probably making sure the people wouldn't be blown to bits. As little finesse as explosions have, Vieri could probably manage to avoid frying most of the critters, if not all; the current freakout suggested that Reptar and Orko probably wouldn't be getting the same treatment. A plan was quickly put together, but he held off on acting on it immediately.
"So, Isabello's," he said with a slight smirk, noticing for the first time the writing on the whiteboard. Funnily enough, the only word he could actually read on there was "Isabello". Maybe he could avoid outing himself for just a bit longer, then. "If I help you clear out the room from the people putting animals in harm's way, does that mean that I'm part of your little club?" He grinned, mostly to himself, as he considered it. Sure, it seemed like a massive waste of time, but there were a lot of things he did that could only be classified as massive wastes of time. His job, for instance. Or any of his non-research hobbies. There wasn't anything more wasteful about spending time with his new, young, violent, megalomaniacal pals. And with only two members, it wasn't as though Vieri could afford to be picky about the help he'd get. It was a good deal for all parties involved.

Her first instinct was to amp up the rabbit's despair over killing a perfectly innocent creature, but she seemed to care about the dead pigeon about as much as Diana did. She raised an eyebrow, but it ultimately didn't matter. She was displaying other emotions that would be about as effective. Anxiety, awkwardness, all things that could be easily used against people. She seemed the least inclined to try to run off, and Vieri seemed to just want everyone out of here at the moment, so Diana figured she could help with that.
She amplified the nervousness and awkwardness. Given her current state, she wouldn't be surprised if it rose to levels that'd make her want to throw up; the kind of feeling that the average person would feel when giving a big speech they were unprepared for or something. With any luck that'd make her want to just disappear and thus get out of here as quickly as possible.
ACTION: Interference (Illusion) on Faye
"But if it makes everyone upset, I won't throw around anymore knifes. See?" She held up her hands, palms facing her current opponents. "See, nothing even up my sleeve!" She couldn't resist adding one of her favorite stage lines, eyes flickering all around as if looking for a reaction. "But of course I got things hidden in my hat! They won't hurt you, or those animals, of course. Just make your eyes burn!" Before she was even done speaking she reached into her hat again, throwing one of the cylinders filled with a liquid, a liquid that threw up smoke as soon as it hit the ground.
Even Faye found herself unable to see, which was the plan after all. Closing her eyes completely, she took off her cape, holding it in the air, before disappearing from sight, her cape drifting to the ground. Her dimension always was strange, but Faye could trust it, it usually took her to where she was planning to go, or do, anyway. And today was no exception. Tripping up someone was not a permanent solution, like at all, but she couldn't think of anything that wouldn't hurt too badly. So when she swept her arms and found a pair of legs that was really all her plan was. But trapping those legs in her dimension was basically a happy accident, if it succeeded at all. Sure, she'd have to let them go eventually, leaving someone trapped in her dimension was quite mean, and plus, she wasn't even sure she could keep them once everyone could see again.
Interference (Obstruction) against Tristan
Kaida's tail lashed out with no rhyme or reason, simply screaming from between her teeth as her vicious blow struck at the walls and pounded them in. She didn't expect to win, she was outnumbered and with some useless little girl. But still, but nonetheless, she had to put up a fight at least. A lion didn't leave his pride without at least trying against the newcomer, so neither would she.
Metal and glass splintered under her blow, freeing more animals into the chaos of battle, but her real target was Diana. The animals squeaked and squealed before leaping from Diana, just in time for Kaida's tail to barrel at her.
Action: Aggression Force against Diana
Tristan didn't wait for an answer before acting on his actual plan. Hopefully, some confusion or consideration would stall Vieri from exploding everything long enough for Tristan to get the girl the hell out. Of the two likely targets (assuming Sparky didn't try and fry him first on principle), Orko was probably the less likely to survive. If memory served, Reptar had already taken explosions to the face and yet was still around. The same couldn't be said about some little kid dressed like a magician.
Replacing birds aside, she was also the one who had actually struck the probably fatal blow. Seemed probable that she would be the one exploded, even if Vieri was shouting at Kaida for some reason. Which basically meant that the safest place for her was practically anywhere but here.
Tristan quickly stepped to where the girl was directly between him and the door. He didn't imagine this would be a pleasant experience for either of them, but he lacked quicker means of eviction. A construct materialized in his shadow and was promptly catapulted towards the young mage by a large pillar of darkness rushing from the ground underneath it. The construct, flying at high speeds, would attempt to grab the girl in midair, pulling her with it as it went careening out of the room.
Tristan just hoped it would happen fast enough to save her from certain doom, even if it resulted in a couple broken bones.
Aggression: Disruption against Faye!
Diana would indeed not have to worry about being blasted, at least. As much as he wanted to blast the faces off Scales, Witchy, and the Wondrously Appearing Frosty, he couldn’t without risking the safety of the animals. As much as he despised using this form of combat, these hypocritical feel-good assholes had taken it too far and he needed to do something about it.
Kaida would feel her body go limp. It wouldn’t hurt, not unless she fell on something sharp or explosive, and her head wasn’t affected at all, but everything from her neck down would simply refuse to move. It was much like she’d been paralyzed from the neck down, and very similar to how he’d stopped that eagle back in Japan.
Putting his arm up on the chair, he turned his upper half more fully towards her. His voice was low and painfully measured.
“This is a warning. You’re going to call off the animals. I’m gonna let you go. And then you’re get. The. Fuck. Out.”

Kaida would feel her ability to move return as quickly as it’d gone, but Vieri was keeping a close eye on her. He wouldn’t put it past her to try to tail slap or body slam or try to eat him or one of the other mages, and he was willing to put up with that exactly as much as his biting glare suggested. If she went for anything but the door, he was more than ready to freeze her again. As useless as Hoppers the Shadowmage was otherwise being, he at least seemed to have the witch covered. He could ask him what the hell he was on about once the important things were taken care of.
Which meant finally these irresponsable trespassing battle zealots were dealt with enough he could concentrate on cleaning up the bloody mess they’d made. The bird had stopped struggling against and was now hanging limp, save for the occasional twitch of its wing or foot. He was supporting it as best he could, resting a hand under its body to help keep its weight off the knife, but he couldn’t do anything about the blood. It wasn’t dead but it was dying, and quickly.
Gritting his teeth, he pulled the knife out of his leg. Damn witch had gotten it in deep. The gash was definitely going to need healing, and he was going to have to gorge himself at dinner tonight to make up for all this lost blood, but that wasn’t important right now. He could deal; the bird was bleeding out. He cradled the bird gently in one arm so the sharp end of the dagger rested between his arm and side.
“Diana, I need your help for this. Tell me when and I’ll pull the knife out.” As stiff as his face was in its glare, his worry was unmistakable, and his voice was hurried and even a little hushed. He clicked his tongue in anger. “Those damn heartless bastards, gonna need to hurt it again to help it. As though once wasn’t enough.”
He had a good grip on the hit of the dagger. When Diana gave the word, he’d yank it straight up and out as quickly as he could spare the bird.

Kaida didn't move immediately, but let out a long sigh. Even as the feeling returned to her body, the numbness in her jaws wouldn't fade. Call off the animals, if she could she would. A spark of anger bubbled in her chest and then, just as quickly, was snuffed out of her throat with a light, "Ya deaf? 'Ready told you..." She had to desperate from this anger, or Boiúna called the animals, and then she was called into that violence. She...had to leave.
The animals around Diana would leap for her, and suddenly perch on her head, as if to defend her from Vieri, and once again, she was powerless to stop this. She just managed to jerk her head away before they pounced, and thanked whatever god watched their farce that the animals stayed on her. Now she couldn't fight, or she'd kill them all. "Take care of yourself from now on." She grumbled to Faye, and turned her eyes up to the creatures lingering on her scalp. What was she going to do for these poor guys? They'd die in the wild.
Nonetheless, she rose to her feet, blinked as the rest of the creatures fluttered onto her back...and left. They would slowly start to scatter as her stress died down and they feared becoming dinner...but she had company. At least for now.
Diana just shrugged at the shadow mage. Normally she would have been less chatty with a potential enemy, but with Vieri in his current state there was no way he was even going to care about his arrival, so there was no point in pretending like she was going to get any kind of opportunity to fight him.
"Whatever he thinks will end it the fastest. With all the animals in the room that probably won't be anything too explosive, but I'm not taking any chances," she lightly swatted another bird away from her eyes. "I'd rather not be electrocuted. So yeah, you're being upstaged by a fucking pigeon because Vieri's a total sap, like I said last time. I doubt he's even going to acknowledge you until that bird's okay."
Sure enough, it looked like the rabbit was on the way out, so at least that was done. Snake lady seemed to be throwing a temper tantrum and being a sore loser though. Was she trying to destroy the classroom in a 'I'm not going to let you have it no matter what' kind of way? Why did she always seem to end up murdering the shit out of anything she was protecting? It was getting disturbing. Diana continued trying to get the animals off of her when they suddenly stopped. Before she could react, the snake lady's tail slammed her into the ground and for a moment she was dazed. Fortunately, her body started putting itself back together pretty quickly, so after about a minute she was able to sit back up and rub her head.
"You know, if you want me to heal something trying to turn me into a smear on the floor is probably not the best idea," she said flatly as her hips started piecing themselves back together.
She thought there was something suspicious about the snake lady's claim. If the animals around just fought for her and would outright hurt themselves trying, why did no more dinosaurs come through the portal to help during their first fight? Why weren't there any rats in Florence or birds in Tenochtitlan coming to her aid? Why did all the animals suddenly bail when they might get hurt? Because she was lying obviously. That was one of the more absurd claims she heard in a long time. At least the animals were gone and everyone else was probably going to be gone soon enough. Diana slowly climbed to her feet with the help of a desk and started hobbling over to Vieri.
Diana knew he wanted to help this stupid bird, but he really needed to stop trying to do her job. She didn't trust him for a moment to have the kind of patience or finesse required to remove a knife from that bird's gut without rupturing something else. Yeah, she could heal it, but if he killed it first it wouldn't do anything. She took a seat on the next desk over, leaning against the side of the chair to try to stabilize herself while her body stopped all the internal bleeding.
"Don't be stupid. Give me the stupid pigeon," she held out her hand.
Once she had the bird, she carefully put pressure on the wound to insure it wouldn't bleed too much more while she figured out how to remove this knife. At least it wasn't squirming too much. With a precision and gentleness not common for her, she carefully cradled the bird in her hand and started slowly sliding the knife out, making sure that she exactly matched the path the entry wound took. This kind of thing was so much easier after getting her power, now that she didn't have to worry about her hands shaking or jerking in a random direction. It made it almost trivial for her. The moment the knife was far enough out that she didn't feel like she had to worry about the bird healing over the knife, she activated her power and the bird's wounds quickly started closing. Once it at least seemed to be stabilizing, she handed it back over to Vieri with a flat expression. She still couldn't believe she was doing something like this for a common bird.

Faye was the tiniest bit miffed. Maybe. She was being all nice, and sweet, and just a plain good happy person as you should be. It was only normal! But here she was just trying to be the happiest person she could to cheer up these people, and they still were insulting her! As soon as these thoughts entered her mind, and as soon as she was out of her dimension and could see, Faye pressed her hands painfully to her face, shooing out her current thoughts. Think happy thoughts! Think only happy thoughts! "Think happy thoughts Faye...!"
Just as she both realized her earlier attack haven't worked, and her mind was back in her happy state, Faye startled, seeing something shadowy fly straight towards her. "Whoa!" She didn't even get a chance to move, next thing she knew, she was caught and flying just as quick with the shadow. She'd find it fun if the situation wasn't so sudden. And, well, if the flying didn't end with an unpleasant crack against the far wall. Thankfully, being pulled from her dimension probably slowed her down a bit, nothing broke, even if she would clearly be bruising up.
She looked up, at the room she was now quite a ways from. Looked like everyone wasn't going to pay anymore attention to her, now the bird was in the spotlight. She smiled, good for it, and good for all of them to do something that isn't intimidation! She slowly got up and moved down the hallway, wanting to skip, but still sore. And, honestly, she still wasn't in her happiest state, she still wished she succeeded in making them happy herself. "Ha, looks like I got more to learn!"
