Most of the time, Hikaru stayed at home during the night. Her power let her fly fast enough, and now that she was good enough at dodging errant trees and birds, she had no trouble getting home. Sometimes she'd take her younger sister with her, but she couldn't always manage it. Sometimes she was already at home come 10PM in the academy, and sometimes Hayako was out. Regardless, she made a point of going to the room Hayako was using on the nights she couldn't go home to see if she was there and wanted to come with her this time. It was a small gesture, but she really did want her sister to spend more time at home and less time at the academy. This place was a terrible influence on her.
It was about 9:30. More than enough time for Hayako to finish up whatever she was doing and for them to get to the portal before curfew. She'd been watching the clock more carefully now and made a point to never be late. Her sister could expect her at this time every night she was able, and if she wasn't, not showing up at this time was a pretty good sign that was the case. Hikaru made her way down the narrow hallway filled with cheap looking doors that put even the ones in her village to shame with how flimsy they looked. Once she made it to the one her sister normally stayed in, she knocked lightly on the door, half afraid that she was going to knock it over if she knocked any harder.
"Hayako? Do you want to sleep at home tonight?" she called.
There was some banging around inside, which wasn't really that uncommon, so she just assumed Hayako was doing something. It was a sign that she was there, and she didn't keep much in this room if only due to lack of space, so Hikaru assumed it'd be perfectly safe to walk in. It was always hard to tell when these doors were locked because of how bad the locks are, so she didn't think anything of it when the door opened easily.
"Are you ready to go or--?"
She took a step in and quickly realized that the person in this room was not her younger sister. Hikaru stepped back, her cheeks starting to turn red. She just intruded on someone and this was not okay. She bowed her head slightly as she started to take a few steps back to get out of the door. How did she manage to find the wrong room? They all looked the same, so she supposed it wasn't that surprising, just embarrassing. At least, she was pretty sure that's what must have happened because who would want to break into one of these cheap dorm rooms?
"I'm so sorry. I must have the wrong room. Sorry to have disturbed you."
