When Diana first heard that the other universe connected to the academy was like hers, but several hundred years in the future, she was intrigued. Vieri did most of the historical research, she couldn't really be bothered and she had more important things to look at, but she was more than happy to listen to him ramble about it when he did. It really did sound like a lot of events she considered current did actually happen at one point in the world of 2018's history. Not only that, apparently that time period was a really big deal and a lot of history nerds were obsessed with it. Meaning, even stupid basic things like fancy vases and statues were worth millions, if not billions, in the world of 2018. She could easily get them in mint condition with no signs of aging because, well in her universe they were new and they were real. It was a pretty good scheme to make some quick cash that Vieri could invest with in that universe.
She was just getting back from one of her heists. This time she had about a half a dozen family portraits done in a nice realistic style common of the time. Diana had no idea if the people in the portraits would end up being anyone important, nor did she know who painted them, but it probably didn't matter. Some sucker out there would probably give her enough for it that she'd have to count the zeros to double check she got the right amount of money for it.
Normally she'd stick them in Vieri's manor until she found a buyer, but this time she had a pretty good idea of the sucker that would take them off her hands. She'd sold a good number of paintings to some collector in New York, and these seemed right up his alley. Talking to him first seemed reasonable enough. If it didn't work out, she could just take them back and find someone else. It was no big deal. They were a little cumbersome to carry, but nothing to worry about. Only the painting of the husband and wife that lead the household was any big. She needed to carry that one under one of her arms on its own. The others were only about the size of 2018's larger portable computers, so she could easily carry the rest of them in a stack in her other arm. As long as she made sure not to kick the big one too hard while she was walking and to not drag it on the floor, it should be in good enough condition. Now she just needed to find that portal to New York and get rid of these.
