In the year 2012, a mysterious illness began to sweep the globe. In its wake, those who survived it were left with immensely powerful supernatural abilities.
As the number of people capable of wielding magic powers increased, they began to organize and seize control of the course of history. Using their powers to travel between parallel universes, these mages forge empires of a scale never before seen. And at the center of it all is the Academy, a neutral institution founded for mages to share their knowledge with each other.
Mages struggle against each other to impose their will upon the multiverse, but there is one threat that unites them all together. In recent months, mysterious entities have appeared. These entities wield power far greater than any one mage, and they seem determined to annihilate all of humanity. The mages will have to set aside their differences in order to beat them. The fate of the multiverse depends on it.
To be honest, he wasn't where he was, exactly. He'd barely explored the dormitory and classroom part of the Academy, let alone wherever this was. This kinda thing is what happens when your daydreaming and open a portal in already warped space; you end up somewhere. He'd been walking the hallways for about half an hour, checking out if there was actually anything interesting or useful. So far, nothing much. Just an endless tunnel of door less metallic walls and dim lighting. Really, this'd be the perfect setup for a horror movie.
"Man, how big is this damn place? I know it's supposed to be magically infused and all, but I've been walking for like an hour straight." He said to himself, rather loudly since no one was nearby, as far as he could tell. He yawned loudly, scratching the back of his neck as he continued his trek through unknown grounds. It actually briefly occurred to him that he didn't known what time it was in the Academy, and thus, didn't know if it was past curfew. Though, the thought passed, as all he could do at this moment was hope a staff member didn't catch him.

It was definitely past curfew and Wally was more aware of a different time limit. In fact, his now self proclaimed time limit to only leave New York for a few hours at most, was more of a factor for him to rush through the restricted zone he have randomly picked to see if he could find what have supposedly been happening for a while in the Academy and he have just found out about. And that thing happened to be grades, which was just great, huh? And he wanted to find his own grades, if they kept them hidden around like he thought his old normal school did. Hey, he definitely thought he was being way better at this Academy than many mages, and deserved a pretty high grade, and if his grade was low, he'd cross that bridge when it came up.
And that's how he ended slipping into the restricted zone the exact same way he got in the last time he got in, making himself look like part of the walls themselves and finding an opening in. Or turning invisible if you wanted to describe illusions quickly. It was very obvious to him that the Academy was probably going to patch that little mistake into the restricted zone soon, so he intended to exploit it until then, because he was intelligent.
Though, right now, nothing was interesting, or impressive, or anything, it just was walls, then hallways, then repeat! But he was here already and did not want to leave empty handed, especially since he was sort of mixing the ways back to the opening he came out of. He'll figure that out after he succeeds! Finally, he turned a corner and saw something different, that guy, Crew, right. Well, guy like that clearly wasn't a staff member, and clearly was here for a similar reason. He couldn't turn in Wally unless he'd want to explain why the hell he was down here as well.
But Wally didn't immediately drop his illusion, he wasn't stupid. He didn't need to be mistaken for a staff member himself and attacked, and while there wasn't many ways this guy could turn him in, it was a possibility, so Wally stayed mostly invisible. But not silent of course. "So you decided to sneak in as well? I'm guessing the secret grades? Why not help me out and we both don't get anything bad happening to us, because this place is annoying like that." The Academy would definitely mess with them both so He saw this as pretty persuasive. He could get some help immediately without a problem, and helping a teleporter was nothing too aggravating. And seriously, if Crew turned out to be someone who turned people into the Academy, which was kind of a possibility, it would be pretty hard for the Crew guy to recognize him through his voice!
Crew had slowed his walking pace, having heard another set of footsteps, albeit somewhat light, somewhere else in the halls. Worst case scenario, it was a staff member, and he'd either need to pull a quick one and disappear, and hope the staff member in question wasn't some old lich and was capable of catching him. Best case, it was just a janitor or something. Either way, he prepared to confront this mystery person.... then he heard their voice.
It was oddly familiar, though he couldn't exactly pinpoint from where. "Uh... yeah, you got me. Trying to look for the grade book." He decided to just go along with the assumption, since admitting that he was actually lost, and didn't have a clue to where he was would add nothing to the situation. But secret grades? Who the hell cared about the grades in this school. Since his first day, Crew assumed that as long as you did something with your magic, then you were good. Maybe he was wrong.
"We can work together to find, as soon as, y'know, you show yourself. Or are you some kinda ghost, out to get that A plus that eluded you in life?" After what he had seen, the possibility seemed all to likely.

Huh, really looking for the grade book? Yeah, he was beyond sure this was a lie, he was always naturally suspicious and this guy seemed to really dislike school, and Wally did too, don't get him wrong, but this guy just didn't care. Frankly, he didn't really care if Crew was lying, wasn't messing with him even if it was annoying, no, he was more just plain exasperated by Crew's next comment. Ghosts, really? Was enough to make him roll his despite being currently invisible. A ghost joke would always be rather ridiculous.
Wally dropped his illusion afterwards, arms crossed. He wouldn't even start walking just yet towards the end of the hallway he haven't seen yet, he first wanted to try to explain a bit. "You know, you don't have to be looking for grades just to look for high grades of your own, obviously." He was himself, sure, but not everyone who would come down here for the gradebook would! He gestured with a hand to nothing in particular, kind of talking with no plan. "Maybe you want to mess with someone else's grades, or just want to destroy the damn book, try imagining more, seriously."
Thinking he made his point, Wally would walk past Crew, pointing at the darkened hallway ahead. "And now since you agreed to help and I appeared we can actually get moving. We don't have a ton of time after all." Actually he himself had a few hours left, but the staff could do patrols at certain times, or things could change down here at different times, it was possible! Maybe unlikely, but possible!
Of course. Of course it was Wally. Who else would it be. Who else would care so much about the grading scale of the Academy, that they'd actually try and search for the thing. He ran into the guy so much that he was wondering if it was pure coincidence. So he could turn invisible too? Wonder how that worked. He knew that he could make things, though he never really went into detail about it. Maybe he made an invisible cloak?
Whatever the case was, it was kinda useless when he had footsteps that sounded like a tap dancers. If Crew knew he was there, any professor would be sure to find him. "Kind of petty to fudge with someone's grades, honestly. Also kinda of a dick thing to do." He barely cared about his own grades, let alone someone else's enough to mess with them. "But it is you... so I'm kinda not surprised." He teased Wally just a bit. It something actually he enjoyed doing, if he were being honest. Wally was funny that way.
Crew followed after Wally as they traveled deeper into the hallways. "So, do you actually know where you're going, or are we just walking blindly until we find a door that looks important?" He asked.

Wally shook his head. "It's not petty if you need yours to be better, especially if you don't outright fail the person. And besides, if you need it more then you do it, simple as that." Frankly, he only really brought this possibility up to sort of deflect the other possibility that he was checking his own grades, which was true but also besides the point. However, now he decided to defend it a bit, especially since it didn't exactly sound like an idiotic idea in the first place.
Wally glared, tapping his fingers on his glasses, immediately jumping to Crew's next comment. That definitely was some sort of way to make fun if him, there was just several different ways. So he decided to cover all his bases, might as well! He started listing off on one hand, made you look more put together. "If that's supposed to say I would do that because of no morals, that's not really too bad, honestly. But I can easily say the second possibility, that I'm not smart, is obviously not true, I even showed up in a class in this Academy, even if it was a waste!"
"Of course I at least got an idea where to go, we just need to go where the most doors are, then we can just look through many rooms in quicker time! Plus, that means we got more done before staff comes around. I mean, seriously, duh." Wally did not really explain how he could find that specifically, but it sounded like a good enough plan to him. He turned a corner, then waved for Crew to hurry up, smiling. "See? Lots of doors, like I said!"
He didn't really wait for any reply, rushing ahead and going for the nearest door, opening it only to be met by a buzzing generator. "Alright, just keep looking, gotta be more in this hallway then just useless stuff." He would close the door far more loudly than what was certainly necessary, walking towards yet another door.
He didn't exactly think it was wise to go just opening any old door, especially since he knew for a fact Wally didn't know where he was heading. It was so easy to tell when the kid was bluffing, Crew had made a game of it. Each time Wally came up with a reason or excuse, he owed Crew a dollar. Of course, Wally didn't know about the game, but that didn't stop him from keeping a mental tally sheet. Wally was in the low double digits, by now.
"Wally, I don't think you should be going up to any old door. What if one of them is the teacher's lounge or something? What then?" He asked. "If you get caught, don't expect me to still be here." As they went further and further in, he began getting more curious. The hallway seemed to go on forever, with no end. What exactly could be behind all these doors? Something strange or weird, no doubt, considering it was the Academy. Eventually, his curiosity got the better of him, and he decided to try a door himself. Only, the one he picked, didn't open.

Wally actually thought he was explaining at least decently. People couldn't feel small lies from reality, right? He looked behind at Crew, seeing absolutely nothing that could show realization, nothing like a bunch of smiling or laughing. He didn't know what signified understanding that someone was lying to your face, but he assumed you'd want to laugh if someone lied badly enough to be caught. So... bluff not caught yet!
Wally wouldn't completely quit opening and closing doors, but he would at least slow down while answering. "If I find a teacher's lounge I could just as easily get away as you can teleport away." He opened one door wide, then placed his typical illusion to disappear, mostly just blending in with the walls and floor around him. He let go of the door, making his invisibility obvious. "See? Literally no one could find me. Pretty smart huh?" He dropped the illusion, apparently forgetting that he was making his magic more and more obvious, instead, he puffed out his chest, clearly thinking this was a perfect idea.
"Locked?" He rushed over, trying the door himself. When that didn't work, Wally stepped back, pointing a thumb towards the door. "Well, looks like you're teleporting is going to be useful! Try getting inside, nobody locks a door unless something, probably important, is inside." Like a gradebook, but hey, he'd take anything new or different!
