"You're the one that keeps asking about things. What do you expect me to do, sit around and twiddle my thumbs? I said that I operate on the backlines, not that I don't do anything."
Diana was aware of the various origins of her name, though she didn't know which one her parents were using. History wasn't one of her strong points, but the history and culture of Florence specifically was something she knew almost as well as physics. Her parents had numerous books on the subject, and while she was significantly less interested in them, occasionally she did need a break from botany and medicine and those were some of the more robust options she had besides that.
However, why she knew Florence's history well, she only knew it from her time. All that stuff that'd probably be happening in the next few centuries, history to the world of 2018, was well outside of her knowledge. It was why she could find religion as inoffensive as she did. There were some things that were pretty anti-science about it, but those things still firmly applied to the more secular world as well. Things like ethics and what was okay to do with dead bodies for example. In her time monasteries were still one of the bigger centers for learning, especially when it came to medicine. It was hard to fault it too hard, though she still had no intention of ever getting involved with it. Diana doubted that much of what her parents said were true, they were complete morons, but it still left a bad taste in her mouth and she wasn't one to follow rules or a code of conduct anyway.
"I figure it's either that goddess or the saint. It's hard to say given how obsessed Florence seems to be with the Romans. But I can't say I've ever asked my parents about which of them I was named after. Don't care enough to either." If she ever saw her parents' faces again it'd probably be to make sure they didn't have faces to see anymore, so this was fine. "It doesn't mean much to me. I've thought about changing it before, but it's just too much work for something that doesn't really matter."
It took her awhile to notice that the car was heating up. She realized it before he said something, but not too much longer before that. Once he did say something she immediately burst into laughter; not a mocking laughter, just a joyful one. This was what he wanted to do? Diana could only interpret that as wanting to set the car on fire with her lack of knowledge of his power and how vague he was continuing to be. Well, he if was bored of driving that was one way to go out she supposed.
"You have strange hobbies guy, I approve. Let's go."
It wasn't too hard to set off the delicate balance that stopped cars from catching on fire. Her power was very well suited for upsetting delicate balances after all. Diana figured she'd have maybe ten or twenty seconds to get out of the car before it started to ignite, but that was more than enough time for her. She pushed the door open and rolled out into the street. Given how fast they were going it hurt like hell and cut up her skin pretty badly, but her power could heal injuries like that in no time. The dislocated shoulder might take a bit longer, but she could manage. From there, it was just a matter of seeing whether or not her driving partner escaped from the huge fireball the car was about to turn into. He was a mage, he'd probably be fine. She just needed to limp over to the sidewalk and wait.
