Reasonable People [Karma]

If Hikaru knew everything was going to go as poorly as it did, she would have gone about this differently and would have made more effort to keep herself hidden. She wasn't sure how to talk to the emergency services of this era, so she let Tristan's shadow construct do most of the talking only interjecting when she felt the need to explain something more clearly. She wanted to make sure that there seemed to be something wrong with this child's eyes, and what probably caused it, so that hopefully they'd be able to fix whatever problem he had. Apparently she said a little too much because the police were surrounding her and looking at her suspiciously.
A lot of the terms she used she didn't fully understand, but she got the gist of it. Something about how she shouldn't even be here in the first place followed by questioning on why she was. Then something about how she probably injured the child and how that was no good and why it happened. Hikaru was patient and she knew a lot of strange things were happening around here, so she was more than happy to offer explanations. It felt like the more she said the more upset they became. It was odd. She thought her explanations were clear and reasonable, but nothing seemed to satisfy these people. Eventually, she tried to excuse herself, but that was when one of the officers grabbed her arm.
Hikaru still refused to raise a hand against them, even if her power could incinerate them in an instant, even after they were trying to force her into handcuffs and formally arrest her. She couldn't just fly away here, that would require activating her power and that was liable to hurt someone, so all she could hope for was finding a way to sneak off when there weren't too many people in her immediate vicinity. Which meant that, for now at least, she needed to cooperate.
