If it was one thing that getting magic taught Diana it was that the rules of the world were arbitrary, mostly decided by old people that wanted to hold onto her power. Even the laws of physics, something she was willing to accept as mostly real and not delusion of the bourgeoisie, clearly didn't have a hold on everyone. For most of her life she was willing to follow those rules to the letter, do what she was told, and not complain when she was snubbed. Then she got her magic and it became obvious that there was no point in doing so anymore. It wasn't a path to happiness, people would only be satisfied when she was useful to them somehow, and worrying about that was a complete waste of time. So she threw the rules out the window. All of them. She wasn't going to care about her family or leaders, she was going to care about the people she wanted to. She wasn't going to get a job, she was going to do what she wanted to do to live, and take what she needed to survive. She wasn't going to play fair, she was going to play effectively. This was her life now and nothing was going to hold her down.
Magic made cheating so much easier. Knowledge of the multiverse and the ability to access parts of it made it even easier. The resources in her own time were surprisingly limited now that she had seen what technology was capable of, and she'd taken to spending most of her time in that other universe. However, her homeworld, her home city even, had its uses. This was apparently an interesting time for a lot of people in that universe and a lot of things that were created in her time sold for a ton of cash in that other universe. The money wouldn't mean a lot in this universe, but she could still spend it in that future universe, and the resources they had were better anyway. Thus, Diana started stealing authentic Renaissance artifacts and selling them to a different universe at ridiculously high prices. They were in mint condition (most of the time) after all. What they did when they inevitably found a duplicate in their universe wasn't her problem. Her goods were real, there was no way they'd ever be detected as forgeries because they weren't, and by the time anyone found out she'd have her money. Unfortunately, she didn't recognize a lot of the really popular names and had even more trouble locating some of them with in her own universe, so she could only assume that they hadn't been born yet or were simply not important enough yet to be worth mentioning. It was something to keep in the back of her mind if she happened to hear about them later.
For the past year, since getting her powers and learning about the academy, Diana had spent most of her time learning about the world of 2018 and getting an understanding of their technology, knowledge, and way of life. It was why she was able to come up with a scheme like this in the first place; she knew what those people liked and how they lived. It was also why, despite being a native to this world, she dressed more like the people of 2018. Jeans, a thick shirt, and a leather jacket were far more practical for what she could do and were far easier to move around in than anything from this time. It was also why she took the time to pick up a vehicle from that time and bring it here. The kind that didn't require wide roads, or even roads at all to use. The people of 2018 called it a dirt bike, and it was loud and fast and could handle the terrain of this universe. It was one of the many reasons she opted to not be sneaky about her thievery. It'd be way too time consuming for one, but riding through the streets at high speeds while evading the police sounded way more fun than not getting caught. What the mundanes thought and did didn't mean much at this point, and potentially bringing shame to her family was the last thing on her mind. Running away while they shouted angrily while shaking their fists sounded more interesting than fighting them at this point.
Thus Diana's heist began. The target was some rich family she couldn't be bothered to remember the names of. Their house was huge and had several nice paintings that would probably sell for a few million at least, as well as a couple of nice vases. There was probably more, but she could only carry so much in one trip. Unfortunately, 2018 hadn't yet discovered some technology that would let her get around that. The heist was easy. Even though she had no thieving skills at all, to the point that she couldn't even pick locks, she could break physics so it hardly mattered. Strengthening her spear made it strong enough that she could simply stab through the locks and walk in the front door. Shouts from guards and barks from dogs (not that there was much difference between them in her mind) were easy to ignore even without magic, and with her magic she could out run them easily enough and pull off some acrobatic maneuvers. Her magic made it easy even when she was being weighed down with several large paintings and vases. As expected, the police were called, but such an action only made her grin. Pissing off authority and laughing in their faces was always a good time.
Diana escaped through the second story window and dropped down onto the street. A fall like that should have broken her legs, especially given she didn't bother to try to break her fall any, but she didn't have to care about the rules. She was no longer bound by them. She escaped into the night, only the light of the full moon and her super powered eyes to help her see where she was going. She wasted no time in getting on her bike and driving away far faster than was safe in this kind of terrain. But again, the rules didn't apply to her, she wasn't going to crash because her reflexes were inhuman.
She came close for the first time since learning how to drive this thing. She turned a corner faster than was recommended and saw that there was another person with a vehicle that she had to quickly avoid. Narrowly avoiding the person, and moving fast enough that she didn't have enough time to get a look at them, she raised a hand to point behind her and motioned for the other person to follow. Given this person had a vehicle in this universe it was safe to assume that they were a mage and knew of the academy. She couldn't think of any other way for them to be here at least. So, there wasn't much reason to get them caught up in this.
