Hayako tensed and drew in a sharp breath as her feet unwillingly left the ground. She was light - purposefully light - so it wasn’t hard at all. She stared wide into the mage’s eyes, her surprise, and as much as she hated it, her fear showing in her own.
Too late? The woman wasn’t bluffing, was she? People didn’t just start acting the way this woman did, and if this daredevil riding was as common a thing to her as it seemed, she was bound to have hurt someone before. Either with this, or whatever equivalent took her fancy. It probably wasn’t a lie.
So, she had to do something about it. Not anything deadly, now wasn’t the time for that, but enough to show she meant her threat. This lady seeming tough and scary was no reason for her to run away like a coward; she could do something, and so she had to. And so she would.
Hayako steeled herself. This would be hard, but she could do it if she concentrated. She’d practiced quick uses of her power, doing the same now out on the field wasn’t above her reach. Her eyes narrowed into a determined frown, then her form faded and she slipped through the woman’s grasp like air.
Her mundane training could kick in here. The pin in her hair was thick and sharpened, about half the diameter of a knitting needle and brought to a point that could certainly pierce skin. Hayako took a quick step forward, moving through the mage, and in the same motion drew the pin from her hair and crouched down so her head was at about the woman’s hips. Then, becoming tangible and solid again, she brought the pin backwards behind her hard, hoping to drive it into the back of her left calf.
