In the year 2012, a mysterious illness began to sweep the globe. In its wake, those who survived it were left with immensely powerful supernatural abilities.
As the number of people capable of wielding magic powers increased, they began to organize and seize control of the course of history. Using their powers to travel between parallel universes, these mages forge empires of a scale never before seen. And at the center of it all is the Academy, a neutral institution founded for mages to share their knowledge with each other.
Mages struggle against each other to impose their will upon the multiverse, but there is one threat that unites them all together. In recent months, mysterious entities have appeared. These entities wield power far greater than any one mage, and they seem determined to annihilate all of humanity. The mages will have to set aside their differences in order to beat them. The fate of the multiverse depends on it.

That had worked! Jack was actually a bit surprised. It had been starting to feel like everything aside from pillar making was futile. That was enough to motivate him to go back into his human body and stagger to Kyoto.
Jack's eyes were starting to recover, but his vision was still getting dark around the edges from lack of oxygen. His lungs felt like they were being stabbed by a thousand tiny needles. But he had to fight through it to deliver this last attack.
As badly as Kyoto had been ruined, a glint of metal still called Jack's attention to the ruins of a barely-standing building. It was a temple with some gold embellishment on one of the walls. Jack collapsed into its wall, then used that bit of gold to make a much larger golden surface angled directly at the entity, its surface mirror-smooth. He'd give it another taste of its own medicine.
Kyoto would be the location of the entity's last stand. Its eyes began to glow with another flash of light, perhaps in hopes of warding off the mages who were closing in for the deathblow. But a volley from Rira forced several of the eyes closed, providing a safe avenue of approach that Abigail's future sight was able to identify. The flash did nothing but reflect off Jack's mirror, and the attacking mages were able to get within striking range.
Maia and Vieri reached the wings and started pummeling them down. The combination proved effective. Rook's power ensured that they were hitting the wings' weak spots, and Diana's power amplified that weakness to high levels. The wings were immobilized, preventing the entity from escaping.
The rings swiveled to try to block the final attack heading for the faces. However, Karma's fireballs were already weakening one, and the great chunks of gold Hayako was tearing out were weakening another. The pushing from Jennifer's limbs knocked the two damaged rings into each other, and they both shattered, leaving the faces wide open.
Tristan flew through the gap, shadows spreading from him as he landed. The freezing darkness spread through the cracks in the damaged faces, reaching the numerous vessels and chambers beneath. The cold damaged something vital at the entity core, and it shuddered and groaned loud enough to shake the ground below. Its wings abruptly burst into flame, fading into nothingness as the delicate balance that allowed the entity's unnatural form to exist was shattered.
Mortally wounded, the entity teleported to Cairo, sinking downward as its body fell apart into wave after wave of flame. With one final flash of light, it was gone. The only thing left behind was the fragments of its golden rings - each one the size of a skyscraper. They fell upon Cairo, wedging themselves into the ground like so many great monuments.
The fires the entity had left behind were already beginning to burn out. A great cost had been paid, but the universe had survived.

CRITICAL HIT on all components successful! The entity has been defeated!
Diana just flopped on the ground without protest when she was dropped. There wasn't much she could do about it, and it wasn't exactly unexpected given how much the horse had been threatening it. She just waved nonchalantly as the horse headed back into the fight and slumped against the floor for a moment. This was pretty inconvenient. Everything hurt and she wasn't healing fast enough to deal with it. Still, that thing had to be on its last legs based on all the moaning and groaning it was doing so she couldn't afford to just flop here as much as she wanted to. If she wanted to study it, she had to start hauling her burnt ass back to the fight.
By the time she managed to roll out of the portal the entity was already falling apart. Diana grinned in both victory and wonder as the wings started burning on themselves. She started crawling towards the entity, figuring it'd just fall as it started dying and couldn't use magic to keep itself floating anymore, but that didn't happen. The entity continued falling apart, each piece of it dissolving into flames leaving nothing behind. Momentarily, she froze before she started rushing forward as much as her body would let her. Assuming anything when it came to magic was a bad idea, she knew this, and yet she was assuming the thing would leave a corpse for her to study later. Stupid considering how little sense magic made and how it didn't have to play by the rules or common sense.
"Oh come on," she frowned.
She was going to have to keep this in mind if something like this ever happened again.

Jennifer could only smile. It was like the big scary monster was setting off fireworks to celebrate their victory. It was all very pretty and kind of cool. If she didn't think too hard about about the state of the cities, it actually felt pretty good. The universe was saved from the weird burny winged thing, and that's what really mattered in the end right? It was easy enough to keep telling herself that. They did a good thing, so they should be happy! And she didn't want to think about it too hard.
She was happy and she was sure everyone else was happy too! Or at least relieved. Jennifer's happiness however, could not be contained unlike some peoples'. Excited and happy, she ran up to hug the nearest person, personal space be dammed. This was a time to celebrate!
The mages had won and the entity had fallen to its demise in agony, or at least it seemed. It was a good time to conclude victory for it only made one last teleportation to Cairo before bursting in flames and essentially vanishing off earth without a single trace. The fires, as well, disappeared after a short moment and there was practically nothing left of it other than golden fragments and a torn city.
Well, this was Rira's que. Her eyes gazed stoically down at the entity's remains before she caught a glimpse of the girl lying on the ground. That very woman that had intervened and ruined more than a few of her plans. Her expression remained unnerved, only a glance being tossed her way before the dark-haired woman descended. Her platform spun, floated towards one of the portals before it dropped her, spiraling into a thin orb of nothingness that would inevitably explode once Rira entered the portal. She made her way back, completely uninterested of what remained of the monster, only of what it had caused. And it had certainly caused destruction, chaos big enough to have tired out most of the mages which would come to be convenient once Rira induced her next action.
The elimination of the Isabello Family would soon rise to attention, and when that time comes, the woman will be prepared to take back what they had stolen from her. She would look forward to the day of where their interfering party will be pushed out of her path, destroyed and kept at bay. Til then, however, she would remain incognito.
