Hikaru appreciated her powers and was very glad she developed them, however she was still inexperienced and that created some very noticeable downsides with activating them. She had only had them for a few months, so she assumed she would gain greater control over them as time went on, but for now as long as her power was on she was on fire and light objects started orbiting around her. The obvious problem with this was that if she stayed on the ground for even a fraction of a second, if there was any flammable material, like say grass, then there would be fire everywhere. And that said nothing about what it would do to people that got too close to her. Seeing skin and bone melt for the first time was not the most pleasant of experiences. Nor was cracking open someone's head because of a high speed projectile she didn't even know was there. Thus, her training moved from further refining her ability with the sword, and to a lesser extent the bow, and more towards figuring out how to control her power.
Unfortunately, that proved difficult. As long as she practiced in water she could avoid the worst effects of her power, but any water near her turned to steam almost immediately. It was becoming a problem for the rice farmers in her village, so she couldn't afford to practice there anymore. Not to mention that her power had a tendency to uproot some of the rice as well. So she found a different place. There was a lake in the mountains she could use, and it was big enough that she could practice flying around a bit. That was what she was doing right now. As long as she didn't touch the ground she couldn't set anything on fire. As long as she could stay high enough up, odds were she wouldn't cause too much damage to her allies in battle. There wasn't much she could do to try to figure out how to dampen her flames, so she focused on the next best thing while she tried to figure out what to do about that.
The lake was small enough that she could see the opposite shore from the edge of it, but large enough that it was at least a little difficult to do so. There was so much water around that once she activated her power the entire area was covered in scalding hot steam as the water started to boil. Fortunately, it didn't seem to affect her much as her body was already much hotter than this steam. Unfortunately, it did affect her vision as the whole area was suddenly covered in a thick fog from all the water evaporating, and she was high enough in the air that it was a little difficult to tell what was what. Hikaru launched herself towards what she thought was a rock, only for it to take her into the middle of the wooded area around the lake. Her flames hit a couple of the trees before she could stop herself and suddenly there was a raging fire on the mountain top.
Hikaru landed a short distance away, deactivating her power as her heart leapt into her throat. What could she even do about something like this? The flames were hot, the fog was thick, and she was pretty sure that those trees were far too heavy for her to pick up with her power. She jumped, a small jump well with in human ability, and then activated her power again, flinging herself back towards the lake. The fire was quickly spreading behind her, and that stunt hit a couple more branches as she tried to get to the lake as fast as possible. Her hope was that maybe she could move some water onto the trees before it turned to steam, but she wasn't sure if she'd be able to move something like that. Regardless, she had to do something and it was the only idea she had, so she darted towards the lake, looking like a shooting star with a trail of flame and steam behind her.
