Diana could tolerate minor inconveniences for awhile. She could even tolerate them when it was just Vieri being dumb and slow and caring about unimportant things like building safety, or wanting to conserve energy for building projects because the power plant got exploded when he broke the city or whatever, but it was getting annoying having to deal with all these weak lights and shitty wireless internet access in the room she grabbed for herself in Shanghai. Vieri didn't know that she grabbed one of the basements of the more finished buildings for her own purposes and he didn't need to. She was doing fine on her own and if he did find out he'd probably be vaguely disgruntled for a little while and forget about it. No big deal.
However, that it was an unfinished basement in an unfinished building meant that the basic amenities of the future were entirely absent. They weren't even in most of the building, but the basement was especially ignored. Diana'd had enough and decided she was going to rig something together so she could work in peace. All she needed for now were lights, and she managed to salvage some cables from the wreckage and some old vehicles that probably weren't going to run anymore anyway. They weren't super great and splicing them together definitely wasn't up to code, but none of that really mattered to her. As long as it worked, she was happy.
Well, technically they worked for all of 3 seconds before a bit of electricity jumped to something it shouldn't have and caused a small explosion. It was in the roof, so it blew out a good chunk of that corner of the first floor and proceeded to set the building on fire. That on the other hand was probably going to get Vieri to give her an earful, and honestly, that was more annoying than the burns on her face right now. Sighing, she got up and went to go put out the fire, only to hear another small boom. When she got up the stairs the flames had reached far further than she could have anticipated because, as luck would have it, the crew working on the building had brought in some more volatile materials that should most definitely not be anywhere near fire. Thus, the building was engulfed in flames and several workers were trapped inside. It was especially bad because the building wasn't entirely finished, so there were all kinds of things laying around and good passageways to run away with were hard to come by.
This left Diana in a bit of a dilemma. She didn't really care, even if it all was her fault, but on the other hand this was still Vieri's project and losing these workers would set him back considerably. Sighing, she ran outside and shouted at the nearest gawking mundane to try to contact emergency services. Her power was great at starting fires, but not so great at putting them out. The most she could hope for here was getting the workers out before they keeled over. At least her power could handle any damage they suffered so they wouldn't slow them down after all this. Once the mundane pulled out their phone and started making the call she dashed back in, spear in hand. It was time to go rescue some people from a burning building and it was all terribly inconvenient and annoying.
