The Honshū wolf, the Japanese wolf, a subspecies of the Grey wolf. Whatever you wanted to call it, it was extinct by the 2000s, never to be seen again. Or at least it was, for anybody who wasn't a mage. Naturally, Kaida had figured out the loophole she could take, and had fallen into the portal to Kyoto. Now, she found herself face to face with canine eyes, new, and never to be alive again in the real world.
It hadn't been hard to encounter such a being. The people had been suspicious of her but helpful enough, which she thought was the most they could give to a stranger, so it was fine. Besides, the inhabitants of this time mostly wanted her to get out of their city, and gladly told her where the wolves lurked. Perhaps they hoped she'd be eaten, but she didn't care, she had something to do.
So here she was, transformed so that her form almost resembled a black river, constantly shifting and nearly endless, staring down a wolf. She wasn't sure whether this particular specimen was just skinny, or if this species was just particularly small for a wolf. She noted how its fur was ashy brown, a short stature, and webbed feet. The wolf had its tail down, and wouldn't look her directly in the eyes, her form clearly frightened it, and it was alone. She didn't plan on hurting it, simply wanting to note down all of its details before she left, mom and dad would kill to have this sort of information, and information on an extinct species, perfect!...Extinct? Kaida faltered, and the wolf perked its ears curiously. That's right, none existed in her home.
"Hey. Wolf." Now it started to back up as she drew forward, "I got an idea, you're coming with me." She could raise a pack, breed them, reintroduce them into a world...or even protect them from extinction. Yes, she started to reach out her claw to the almost motionless wolf, she could do that...
