In the year 2012, a mysterious illness began to sweep the globe. In its wake, those who survived it were left with immensely powerful supernatural abilities.
As the number of people capable of wielding magic powers increased, they began to organize and seize control of the course of history. Using their powers to travel between parallel universes, these mages forge empires of a scale never before seen. And at the center of it all is the Academy, a neutral institution founded for mages to share their knowledge with each other.
Mages struggle against each other to impose their will upon the multiverse, but there is one threat that unites them all together. In recent months, mysterious entities have appeared. These entities wield power far greater than any one mage, and they seem determined to annihilate all of humanity. The mages will have to set aside their differences in order to beat them. The fate of the multiverse depends on it.

Even as she ran right into the middle of everyone, her hands were still rubbing at her eyes, as though if she moved them around enough her vision might suddenly stop being all blurry and weird. Her head was still throbbing a bit, but it wasn't so bad that she couldn't try to help a bit. It just meant that it might be a good idea to visit the nurse later was all.
Visiting the nurse became a lot more guaranteed when the fight started. Her sudden movement right into the middle of the fray put her right between Karma's fireball and his target. It ran over her shoulder and the side of her face, running right through the gap where her shoulder met her neck. The feeling of burning and freezing at the same time was an odd one, and a rather unpleasant one that left her body completely unsure of how to react. The explosions helped those reactions along. It felt like her heart leaped into her chest and all the air was forced out of her lungs. Jennifer let out a short, high pitched shriek as she quickly lowered herself to the ground, kept her eyes tightly shut, and covered her ears.
"What's even going on? I thought we were going to clean up, but now there's explosions and everyone's yelling!"
Jennifer stayed squatting on the ground, arms slowly surrounding her body in a poor attempt to try to hide. Normally she'd want to find a better spot to hide, but at this point moving seemed way too hard. At least like this she was still mostly out of the way.
Jack's plan didn't end up going that well. He got his barricades up in time to keep Vieri from dodging the fireball, sure, but after that everything went wrong. Tristan's piercing cold left forced him to climb out of the wall, but even once he was back in his own body, he still felt his movements being hindered for some unknown reason. That meant that he wasn't able to get to safety before Vieri's counterattack went off. The blast wasn't even aimed at Jack, but it was strong enough to send him flying.
He tumbled to a stop several yards away, his vision swimming with stars. He couldn't quite follow what was happening, but he was able to prop himself upright and make out Tristan's words.
"A... time out...? Yeah... Yeah, that sounds pretty nice right about now..."
Tristan was being hypocritical as usual, forgetting that he had once come strolling into a certain cafeteria and destroyed it for the oddest of reasons. His plan hadn't worked, but had he stopped at that? No, of course not. And Karma was definitely gonna let him how hypocritical and unexcusable—
Well, that until the woman had started screaming at poor little Jennifer whilst the girl proceeded to run into his fire orb. Karma was convinced these women belonged in an asylum by now, with the mood swings one was having and the idiocracy the other was going through. Huh, maybe everyone here was from a hospital and he was the only sane one.
"I can't believe I'm surrounded by crazy idiots—hell, I can't believe I'm trying to save you all. Listen, little girl," he slowly made his way to Jennifer and kneeled by her side, "I don't know what these people are talking about, but you and I are gonna have a great time cleaning the city. We can even start by putting those two in trash bags, just to get their irritating peasantry out of the way." He pointed to Tristan and Maran.
"And sorry about that, next time don't run into my fire. Uhh, fire that I threw at them in defense—look, they claim I'm the psychopath but then all blast attacks at building-boy here, aren't they crazy?" At this point, Karma was talking loud enough for their foes to hear, as if to subtly call them out on their hypocrisy. But even with a slight smirk, the man had no patience for this nor for foolish pretend. Whether these two were on his side or not didn't matter, because as Tristan said, Karma was only looking for a convenient and quick way to end them. Not a safe one.

It wasn't the fire itself that hurt Vieri - if experiments in Kyoto had come up with any even slightly useful information, it was that he could plunge his hands in lava and come out fine - but it wasn't just a ball of fire. The thing was coming at him with hefty force - and he realized a moment too late, mid side strife, that his exits had been cut off by spontaneous walls. The force threw him backwards into the final wall behind him, hard. Impacts were another thing he was supposed to be good at handling, but this one knocked the wind out of his lungs, dropped him to the ground, and had him gasping to get air back into him.
That staffy and his aggressive walls- no matter how many times he beat that kid, he never seemed to give up. If anything, it was getting worse. It sounded like he'd joined the fire guy just because it meant opposing him. It was annoying as all hell, and what was he supposed to do? Hit harder? And that wasn't even to begin on this guy who was standing there all smug with his smug fire sword and blood on his hands-
He was about to open his mouth and get to shouting how he felt about all this when one of their apparent tag-alongs beat him to it. Vieri was caught mid-breath and outright paused, looking over in the direction past the spontaneous walls where the voice was coming from. A part of him wanted to yell back not to talk to Jennifer like that, but another part of him was somewhat taken aback to hear someone shouting louder than him at all. It felt unnatural.
It wasn't until Red Head started talking that the anger was stirred again and he had ammo to speak up. He yelled over the walls, "Oi! Don't just attack me and then ignore me, you fire-spitting ass!"

Jennifer needed to get a better idea of what was going on, or at least find the nearest way out of here. Several eyes started spawning in hidden corners and other places they wouldn't be immediately obvious. For now she was mostly watching the fire guy because he was probably the scariest of all the scary people here, so avoiding him seemed like a good idea.

ACTION: Prediction (Sense) on Karma
Having officially run out of new nicknames for Pyramid Head, Tristan was glad to hear that he seemed open to calling it quits for now. It meant he could turn his focus to the girl that he had long since run out of nicknames for. Sparkles was in the middle of everything, so at the very least, getting to her was easy enough.
Tristan walked over to Sparkles and clapped in front of her face to get her attention. If there was to be a fight going on, she needed to not be in the middle of it. So, once he had her attention, he made sure to point her in the direction of Bob the Builder with the most obvious gestures he could. If she wasn't hearing too well, maybe she'd get the message in a different way.
Interference (Illusion) against Jennifer
True to his word, Jack decided it was time to take a little break from the battle. He quickly crawled into the nearest wall, merging into it and vanishing from the battlefield.
---
ACTION: Maneuver (Field) for Jack
Maran realized she lost track of the Cult of Chuckie kid and swept her eyes looking for him, "there you are, dumbass." She dashed towards him, passing Tristan and flying spear-kicked blonde boy idiot, "now then, you sure you want to kill people? I have a personal beef with Karma so you just sit here like a good boy and stay out of the way." She dropped her massive great sword on him. The blade was deceptively heavy, easily weighing a couple tons. She wouldn't have been surprised if some ribs cracked on the poor kid.
Not that it mattered, Karma had to be stopped before he ended up killing all the mundanes in this city.
(Isolate) on Jack Mason Maneuver(field) on Tristan
Needless to say, Karma's patience would run out any time now, and his opponents were doing anything but show their opposition. Except for the one blonde that Karma's fireball had struck. Perhaps he was the one to look out for. Yes, probably so.
Karma's head tilted and with a light chuckle, he raised his leg high enough to radiate a forceful impact when he'd stomp against the terrain below him. Quickly, the ground tiles broke before the same gleam of red light appeared between the cracks. Jennifer was gonna have to get away quick if she didn't want a good handful of lava spurting at her like that time in Berlin. Of course, the gleaming stone extended itself all the way onto the other side before it burst at the end of the path, the liquid jumping to Vieri's face.
Action: Aggression (Disruption) on Vieri
As much as he wanted to get back to trying to deck the red head in the face, he'd gone and moved right next to Jennifer. If he wanted to get her out of the way, it seemed he was going to have to take matters into his own hands.
He was about to rush in - through the wall in front of him, in all likelihood, then right into the center of the field - before Tristan spoke up. Vieri hesitated, but ultimately nodded. The shadow guy could be competent when he needed to be. Following his guidance, Vieri found and blasted his way through the walls towards Jennifer. If glares could give the middle finger, one such would be locked on Karma as he leaned down, scooped Jennifer up, and kept running.
The electricity amplifying his speed and jumping height would carry the two of them somewhere Tristan had designated 'safe'. Vieri was willing to trust that he'd be right.

At first, the scary fire guy getting close to her was no comfort at all. Jennifer leaned away like there was some kind of invisible barrier around him and let out a soft, barely audible 'eeehh' as he knelt down. But his voice was soft and his words weren't very scary, he was even apologizing, so it got her to relax for a moment. Not enough to actually open her eyes and see what he was pointing to, but she had enough idea from the context.
"But won't they have trouble breathing if they're put in trash bags?" Her voice was still soft and weak because of everything going on. "Besides, couldn't they help to--uwah!"
Before she could finish, she was suddenly scooped off the ground. It wasn't too difficult considering she was just a squatting lump on the ground and her eyes were closed. It was surprising enough that she didn't really fight back, laying there stunned as she, once again tried to figure out what was going on.
Jennifer was realizing that was probably never going to happen. She never seemed to understand what was going on in mage situations.
All this meant was that she went from being near scary fire guy to being carried around by scary lightning guy. It seriously seemed like there were almost no mages that weren't scary. Jennifer stiffened to prevent herself from squirming too much. She just went from one situation she didn't know how to get out of to another. She hesitated for a moment, trying to think of the least confrontational way to phrase this. The last thing she wanted was for scary lightning guy to get mad while he was holding her.
Maran picked up her sword when the boy disappeared into the ground and dashed off to find the girl. Keeping her out would let Maran fight the mass murderer without having to worry too much about innocents getting caught up in the battle. She jumped from rooftop to rooftop until she saw the airhead being carried off and dropped lightly to the ground, mindful of the last time she slammed down, "so, any plans for flame face over there or do we just keep moving people out of the way until someone with a big gun shows up?"

Interference (obstruction) on (Jennifer)
Taking CONFUSE opening against Jennifer Interference (Illusion) on Karma
The time out gave Jack a chance to think things over and reconsider his actions. He hadn't noticed the signs of violence against the local mundanes until now, and he was starting to suspect that maybe the Isabellos weren't completely responsible for this conflict. Could it be that they were actually the good guys here?
That train of thought was completely derailed by Jennifer's scream.
Jack immediately leapt back into the fray, putting up defensive barricades around the fire mage and popping his upper body out of the ground. Even if he couldn't rescue Jennifer himself, he could enlist some help in doing so.
"Hey, they're kidnapping Jennifer! Quick, we have to stop them!"

Take RESET opening ACTION: Maneuver (Field) for Karma
This didn't seem any safer than where she was before. Lightning guy was prone to getting all sparky and everyone was yelling at him, so letting him carry her seemed like a bad idea. She let him get a fair distance away from everything, cooperating long enough to find a reasonable hiding place for herself, then had some arms grow out of the ground and grab his ankles. From there, she figured she'd go flying, so she put more arms on the walls and floors to grab her and help her along around the corner where she would hopefully be able to hide for awhile so she could figure out what to do. Of course, with this many extra limbs around to help her out, it meant that the walls and floors were also protected, as her limbs would absorb the brunt of the damage before the walls did.
---
ACTION: Maneuver (Protection) on Jack
Jennifer was suddenly picked up by the blonde one and Karma quickly found himself narrowing his eyes. He spun around and before he could turn just in time to get a hit on the boy, Vieri had already moved a good distance away from the redhead. His speed was astonishing, so unnatural that Karma almost managed to forget what he was dealing with. Mages. It should've grown on him by now. After all, not a single person in here was showing anything but extraordinary, chaotic abilities. Right, chaos. And for this, they would have to be wiped out. Well, except for maybe Jennifer. She didn't really strike him as the sinful type, not for now at least.
Karma's arm bounced up facing in the direction of Vieri and Jennifer before another gleaming ball of fire formed at the core of his palm. Without warning, it launched directly towards Vieri like before sending a wave of heated force along with it. And then he started running. He sped up towards the two hoping his ball of fire would distract the guy long enough for Karma to grab Jennifer and pull her away from him. He wasn't separating them for the girl's safety, Karma simply assumed he would land another precise hit if there was no obstacle in the way, and seeing as how the little girl couldn't stay in one place, it was inevitable that she would get in the way like last time.

In some regards, Vieri was happy that Karma was taking him seriously. It hadn’t been enough to stop him, but the actual molten lava had drawn a surprised yelp and left a hefty-sized hunk of molten rock across his face. One that hardened into the swishy, wavy igneous rock before he’d had time - or the free arms - to wipe it away. The heat still didn’t burn but he did have chunks of hardened rock clumped into his hair and entirely covering his good eye - meant sense of sight was moot, and he was stuck navigating just on his power’s sense and the hope that drawing a little off Tristan’s mind wouldn’t run him into the side of a building.
The others had started shouting something or other about him kidnapping her. Dumbasses, if they couldn’t even keep a safe difference from their supposed teammate, of course he was going to take matters into his own hands. To Jennifer’s question, “We’re getting you the hell out of here. How the hell do you keep ending up exactly in the middle of dangerous places, anyway?”
He’d hardly finished when he suddenly tensed, another wave of heat and force rushing narrowly past him. It was only, again, by Tristan’s help that Karma’s follow up attack missed.
He didn’t hesitate to fall back again to relying on Tristan to find the rest of the way to Jack, be it intentional on Tristan’s part or not. On Vieri’s, it’s almost an unconscious second nature.
“Oi Janitor!” Was the sum total of the warning Vieri gave before dropping Jennifer on the upper half of Jack. “You two work together or some shit to leave so we can punch the daylight out of Fire Face over there. You screw this up and next time we meet I swear I’ll blow up all the buildings in a five-block radius.”

Her attempt to grab Vieri's ankles were blocked by a piece of debris showing up out of nowhere. Jennifer deflated in Vieri's arms as her attempt to escape failed so thoroughly. She could probably try again, but if people were using magic to stop it then they were probably watching well enough to stop it again. This plan wasn't going to work, she needed a new one.
"I-I was just walking to the place with all the refugees, and then I went around this corner, and got hit in the head..." Jennifer rubbed her forehead and pouted. She wasn't sure how to answer anything else he asked; she wasn't even aware this place was dangerous, just full of scary people.
Then she was unceremoniously plopped onto someone else. Jennifer yelped again as she hoped she was caught. She took some precautions and spawned some more arms to catch herself just in case, but she worried about how well they'd hold. She wasn't exactly very strong.
"What am I, a ball?" she pouted before turning to Jack. "If this place really is dangerous, maybe I should just get to the place with all the refugees..." she furrowed her brow and sighed. "I don't remember where it is. Do you know where it is?"
Jack was ready for a fast-paced chase scene. He was already planning in his head how to stop Vieri and the others from making a clean getaway. He wasn't ready for the kidnappers to double back and drop the kidnappee in his lap. Rescuing someone wasn't usually this easy, was it?
"Woah! Wait- really?"
He narrowed his eyes suspiciously at Vieri, but quickly turned his attention back to Jennifer, doing his best to ignore the sudden arms emerging everywhere.
"The refugee... place? Yeah, I know where you're talking about! Hold on tight!"
In his half-merged state, the speed with which Jack could move himself across the surface of a building was limited by the human body's ability to withstand rapid acceleration. Since he was carrying a passenger, he'd have to be a little more careful than usual. But considering that they were escaping a mage fight, speed was still of the essence. This was going to be a rough ride.
Post by Tristan Carter on Oct 7, 2018 20:50:51 GMT -7
After seeing the glob of lava solidify over Vieri's functional eye, Tristan decided it'd be best to lead Vieri with his actual presence. Sure, Static had some sort of telepathy and it might've been unnecessary, but Tristan still hadn't really had opportunity to mess with figuring out how well it worked. Even if it seemed to work well enough for "kidnapping" Sparkles, various reasons left the shadowmancer suspicious that it may have been a relatively new ability. The fact that he even knew about it at all suggested that Sparks still hadn't figured out how to use it effectively.
So, Tristan was walking alongside the boss and the hostage, providing mental assistance and path finding abilities thanks to talking being unnecessary effort. Apparently simply walking was enough to land him in hot water, though. Tristan had been barely paying attention to Prince Pogrom, thinking the angry chick had probably been holding his attention, when he was proven wrong by walking face first into a ball of fire and an accompanying blast of weaponized heat. The running man was almost instantly being surrounded by constructs doing everything in their power to keep him from making any forward progress
He clutched his face in pain, then turned towards Radical Religion. The side of his face where he caught the blast was badly burnt, one eye was gone, and the side of his jaw had been completely blasted away. What was left of his mouth hung open limply as he gurgled out an attempt at speech and raised his arms in what was clearly annoyance. After quickly sinking into his shadow and emerging from the nearest one on the path to Living Tetris, he turned back towards Karma with no sign of ever being damaged in the first place, save for him stretching out his jaw as if it was stiff.
"Fucking fire mages," he muttered to himself before starting to shout at Red. "What the hell is wrong with you, you dumb fuck? Had that hit 9-Volt here, Sparkles would've been caught in that! Do none of you children understand the concept of collateral damage? And I don't give a rat's ass if you're some ancient fuck, given you seem to have the situational awareness of a damn five year old! You're even more of a child than these actual kids, and the Great Wall over there was going to help you murder unknown amounts of people just because he doesn't like the cool kids club! I swear, Karma, you try and pull another dangerous stunt like that around me again, and I'll do everything in my power to put you in the ground myself. Fuck mind wipes, it probably won't stick anyway. Now, get the fuck out of my city before I start removing you in pieces."
Although he failed to distract Vieri, it didn't seem like he had to try and pry Jennifer away from the him as he had done so himself. Thus, once Karma noticed him throw the girl to building-boy, he quickly halted. His eyes blankly studied the two as they conversed about making a run for it before acting on their word and blasting away. Well, it was inevitable.
It quickly came to Karma's attention how highly outnumbered he was now, not that he was planning on letting the other kids do his work for him in the first place. It didn't seem like these mages were gonna let him do his job and it was a shame. Naturally, when people objected against his help, he forced them to give in considering he never let emotion get in the way of God and getting upset over ignorance wasn't the most convenient outlook on things. But it didn't help that Karma was quickly met with infuriated threats from Shadow-boy, most of them bland and unoriginal, others slightly more reasonable, which was worrying. Karma was used to the guy being creative with nicknames so he'd expected his insults to match up, but it was disappointing to say the least. It was, however, reasonable to assume that Karma was doing too much 'collateral' damage, and that was a reason to get upset at him over. Furthermore, it seemed like these people were highly protective over this garbage dump and would truly go out of their ways to put up a fight for it. And Karma wasn't about that. He was looking to save people from their demise in the afterlife, give them a good chance at actually avoiding the fires of hell, but it seemed like his fires were far more harmful. Thus, he stopped.
He crossed his arms, his trademark smile showing ever so slightly before he nodded, mostly to himself. "You're not doing yourselves any good by rejecting my help. Hell, I'm trying to alter whatever destiny you're stuck with but it doesn't look like you want that, and that's a shame. I do really enjoy helping people after all." His voice lowered towards the last phrase with a smirk creeping on his face.
Maran raced towards the self proclaimed holy man, free running across the treacherous terrain and launching debris for her to use to get past the more dangerous spots. Honestly, it wasn't all that hard given that now Karma didn't have his groupies right with him getting in the way.
She lightly landed behind him and snuck up before kicking his knee out from under him and putting the killer in a choke hold, "Let's see you stay awake when I crush you in your armor." She let her power flow, primarily focused on the man in front of her she was planning to kill...well, no, that was against the rules. So she was trying to choke him out and maybe draw dicks on his face after dismembering him. Aaaannnddd.... if he just so happened to die in the process, she wouldn't have shed a tear. And she highly doubted she would get punished for putting an end to someone who had chosen to abuse their powers and weaken the multiverse with stagnation.
For added measure, she wrapped her legs around his torso and locked her ankles together and squeezed, her absurd strengthhelping to crush the air out of his lungs with every breath he took. If the man remained conscious for more than a few minutes, she'd be surprised, "do yourself a favor already and go to sleep, unless you want your ribs to puncture your lungs."

Interference (obstruction) on Karma
If nothing else, Tristan's power lent itself well to directing people properly and having a surplus of disposable mooks. He put both of these applications to the test.
He started creating as many constructs as he could from everywhere he could. Within moments, elbow room became nonexistent. Several dozen large black birds came into existence and darted off behind the two escapees, to ensure that no stray fireballs would hit them, or that Jack wouldn't stray from the course that would take them to the refugees. The rest of the constructs were idling around the scene of the commotion. If Vieri or Bladerunner wanted to leave some parting blows on the redhead, the darkness would part for them like the Red Sea. Otherwise, they stayed in place to prevent anyone from trying to escape to anywhere that wasn't the nearest portal.
Interference (Illusion) on Jack
Once his warning was delivered, Jack didn't delay further. He zoomed across the walls at top speed, doing his best to damp the impact as he jumped from building to building, as he carried Jennifer with him. As far as he was concerned, this fight was over.
---
ACTION: Maneuver (Field) for Jennifer
She never did quite figure out what was happening, but with all the yelling and the people talking about beating each other up, she was okay with that. Disappearing entirely sounded perfectly fine. Then the guy carrying her started getting away really fast and it felt really weird. It seemed like even having a bug fly into her face would hurt at these speeds. So, Jennifer decided to wrap herself in arms to protect her and hope for the best. She could easily get rid of them before dealing with the normal people so it was probably fine.
---
ACTION: Maneuver (Protection) on Jennifer
There was never a moment that Karma wasn't blunt with words, let alone honest with himself. When he realized the way that the Shadow-boy's powers restricted his own, it didn't seem as easy getting away with a cleansing ritual without killing them and that was perhaps the last thing his Lord wanted. Maybe it was time to pull back after all? If his God prohibited him from killing without meaning, then it was futile lingering around any more in failed attempts to save these mages.
"I suppose there's a time and place for everything. I pity your ignorance, but it seems my presence is not wanted here, which is by the way very sad. I'm hurt, but I understand. Here's a little gift to express my apology." With arms spread, he carefully raised them bringing up overheating liquids of lava from the opening cracks of the ground. This time the area of effect had grown, enough to actually maintain even power and distribute equal heat over the entire area that was impacted by the lava. Once again, the one to get caught in it would be Vieri for he was closest. Karma didn't stop there nor did he do any more damage, he turned around to walk away while everyone was still distracted.
Action: Aggression (Disruption) on Vieri
A large electrical blast would follow Jack on his way out; not to harm, per say, but just to close the path behind him. Should he decide to change course back into the battlefield that might change, but otherwise it was yet another exit closed.
