There was honestly no excuse. At the most, someone could try saying that it hadn't happened because the entity had been so recent and priorities had shifted, but that was a load of bull. An entirely new universe was made available to the Academy, and nobody had gone to make sure that anything wasn't going to be easily broken when the next universe eating monstrosity wakes up. An argument could've been made that the secret main staff should probably have pitched in, but anyone who thought that'd happen was probably stupid. If the cowards would've done that, they'd have done so before the first one reared its ugly heads.
More personally insulting to Tristan, though, was that he had to be the one to show some initiative and go set up shop somewhere. He could understand that the other two mages in the Isabello Family that actually do anything might be busy actually doing things, but they couldn't even be bothered to send some mundane mooks to go buy some property? If not to save them the trouble of doing things themselves, what are the mundane mooks even getting paid to do?
He supposed it didn't matter. A group of normal people may have had the benefit of being able to do things without attracting mage attention, but attracting mage attention was indisputably a good way to make sure you got the message across to whoever you were wanting to listen to you. Assuming you won the ensuing scuffle. Tristan was feeling confident that he could win such a scuffle.
After making sure that word of Isabello activity occurring in the Flooded World spread across the Academy, Tristan decided to go for a simple approach. Immediately upon passing through a portal to a city that looked just the sort to actually be of interest to Static the Hedgehog, the shadow mage headed directly for the nearest structure. He'd pick a fight with whoever passed through the portal that looked angry and wasn't Vieri, convince nearby residents that finding alternative living arrangements was in their best interests, and maybe see about getting them some relocation relief. And hey, at worst, if he screwed up, there'd be some other mages now left having to handle the panic of a mage fight in a new city. That'd probably lead to some actual progress being made by somebody, he hoped.
Still, no matter how it ended up, he knew what was going to happen to reach that conclusion. He knocked on the door of the building and waited for somebody to answer before giving them a friendly, apologetic smile.
"I'm sorry to disturb you, friend, but you and everyone else currently in here will probably want to go for a picnic or something. I'm afraid there's a high likelihood of this building no longer standing in about ten minutes or so. And, no, I'm afraid I'm not kidding, either, so I suggest you clear out as quickly as you can."
Incursion: pick a fight with any one of the Isabello's many enemies in order to skip the hassle of intimidation and get straight to having assets in Aethesa
