Finally, Science [INCURSION]

It’d been months now since the entity had attacked his world, and the big bosses of the academy with their fancy titles and nondescript faces had given them nothing but snarky comments regarding the events.
Well, Vieri was sick and tired of silence. Since day one of being able to conjure up electricity he’d wanted to know how magic worked, and now that they were serving as impromptu soldiers for a battle they knew not a damn thing about, he was willing to turn this into a life or death, now or never initiative. All the entity had left behind was a bunch of golden rings like some sort of payment for their services, and while knowing thy enemy was good and all that, knowing thyself was just as important.
He had Shanghai, labs and people built and ready to be utilized, and Diana kept bugging him about getting his nose out of the paperwork. It was about time he got to doing some real science on how magic worked.
A team of about three dozen of the best PhDs he could draw from his people or buy had been brought to Shanghai, given as much funding as they wanted, and a laboratory they could use or alter to their needs. He’d help along the way, of course. All that was left was the testing material.
Yesterday, he’d put up posters around the academy requesting everyone with magic show up and donate some of their blood. If they stuck around and demonstrated their powers safely and so the labcoats could get readings, he’d compensate them for their time with money or pizza or some shit. It was on one hand a kind request for the furthering of magical knowledge. On the other, it was a warning for today.
If he knew anything about mages, it was that they were damn hard to get to do anything remotely useful. You could tell one to pick up their trash and chances were high they’d laugh and then set half the park on fire. He wasn’t going to sit back and wait for them to be nice and reasonable - he’d done plenty enough of his own waiting, now was the time to get stuff done. He wasn’t afraid to be a bit aggressive.
So, Vieri had stationed himself directly to the side of the Shanghai portal, waiting and watching for any mages to come through from the Academy. The moment one did, he reached out to try to catch them by the wrist. Humorless glare leveled on them, he said lowly and almost ominously, “Oi, have you donated blood yet?” while holding an empty syringe with a large needle in the other hand.

INCURSION: It’s time to get some science off the ground on how magic works so we’re better prepared to combat the entity. All we need is your blood
