"And how do we know ya ain't just pulling a fast one on us?"
A drawl, and Ridley resisted the urge to back away. He had wandered the darkened alleys of the city where good society ignored the wretched forms within, but here he was, right in the middle of it. He had heard of these "shelters", where one might find those without homes, just lurking in the darkest corners and waiting with others of their kind. They worked for anything to survive, and Ridley thought it might be lovely to bring them to Wally and his little city of New York!...If they worked. He knew his mother and father pulled this offer, working for money, working for food, working to move away. In this case, they would work for luxury and freedom...honestly, with this pigsty, Ridley thought anything would look like luxury to these people. Of course, Wally shouldn't know about this...he'd tell later.
He sent a pointless look about himself, observing the sheer life bubbling around him. In the corner was Black, mascarading as some stray dog, Ridley simply thought walking in with the noble dog would send the wrong message. A scrawny man like him fit in perfectly. "'cause-cause I get no-nothing until I-I give you what y-you want." He mumbled with the greatest conviction he could muster, "Y-you said you kn-knew some f-farming...y-you don't ha-have to do i-it alone...o-or even do i-it." Now he was seeing some change in the faces of his audience, and his life sensing eyes caught sight of more people poking their heads in, and the grubby little heads of children snuck out of their hiding places to listen. "W-we have the...the u-up-upper class" My, what silly names these people called nobles! "Give-giving everything t-to us...wh-why not their bod-bodies too?"
A few figures faded from view, obviously there were people who didn't smile at the idea of virtual slavery, but they could leave. Ridley was only interested in those that didn't bat an eye, the greedy pigs. "I can t-take you. W-what to reject...reject your f-follies and b-be at your rightful p-place?" Putting yourself to use for Wally?
He had them hooked, he knew it. He supposed his family blood really did run through his veins, commoners just flocked to his words without even considering how he could go back on this. It almost made him forget that he was a mage and irreparably different from humans, they were innocent, he was himself. Anything he did was from this damning magic, these humans could think, perhaps he could direct this evil towards good, make them noble. That's what he'd do, it was the only logical route.
However, this was raising quite the ruckus, and anybody passing through the area would certainly note the influx of people, and the odd man making seemingly impossible promises to desperate looking people would certainly raise an eyebrow or two...
Incursion: Gather a horde of people and move them to the city of New York for labor and power!...For Wally...not himself...
