In the year 2012, a mysterious illness began to sweep the globe. In its wake, those who survived it were left with immensely powerful supernatural abilities.
As the number of people capable of wielding magic powers increased, they began to organize and seize control of the course of history. Using their powers to travel between parallel universes, these mages forge empires of a scale never before seen. And at the center of it all is the Academy, a neutral institution founded for mages to share their knowledge with each other.
Mages struggle against each other to impose their will upon the multiverse, but there is one threat that unites them all together. In recent months, mysterious entities have appeared. These entities wield power far greater than any one mage, and they seem determined to annihilate all of humanity. The mages will have to set aside their differences in order to beat them. The fate of the multiverse depends on it.
Another month has gone by and much has happened ICly. Fortunately, the system seems to be working out about how we expected, so there are no changes this month. Continue as you are!
What does a person do if you tell them that the fate of the multiverse hangs on their decisions? Well, if this month was any indication, it's not that much different from what they usually do. Even so, that suits our purposes just fine. Your techniques for fighting other magic-users seem to be coming along nicely. Perhaps not so nicely as to justify sending you to seek out the entities on your own terms, but progress is progress.
That said, it's time to evaluate your major projects for the month.
Come, now. Even supposing that we had some information about the entities that we wished to keep secret from you, do you really think we'd store it in the facility full of people with both the motivation and the abilities to dig that information up? And even supposing that we made that mistake, was the cafeteria really the best place to stage your little protest? There are some much more sensitive facilities deep within the restricted areas - though, if you do go after those, the staff might have to get serious about stopping you. Regardless, this still gets a passing grade for the moderately clever battlefield control techniques displayed.
This was a pretty creative way to change a major part of a universe! A bit less explosive than we generally prefer, but at least the magnitude of the change was quite large compared to the effort expended. Very efficient. The best part is that you have a bunch of unwitting guinea pigs to experiment with how various population centers withstand catastrophic releases of magic power! I sincerely hope that you all don't put this excellent new resource to waste.
