In the year 2012, a mysterious illness began to sweep the globe. In its wake, those who survived it were left with immensely powerful supernatural abilities.
As the number of people capable of wielding magic powers increased, they began to organize and seize control of the course of history. Using their powers to travel between parallel universes, these mages forge empires of a scale never before seen. And at the center of it all is the Academy, a neutral institution founded for mages to share their knowledge with each other.
Mages struggle against each other to impose their will upon the multiverse, but there is one threat that unites them all together. In recent months, mysterious entities have appeared. These entities wield power far greater than any one mage, and they seem determined to annihilate all of humanity. The mages will have to set aside their differences in order to beat them. The fate of the multiverse depends on it.

Faye wasn't sure what she was doing in the rec room of the Academy. She supposed she must have gotten bored enough to watch other magicians on the TV and, truly, that was a point she never thought she'd get to. While other magicians could perform yes, she simply though she was the best performer, well, ever. But she had to give them props for trying! Which, now that she thought about it, that might be the reason she was even at the TV. Huh, made sense.
And she wasn't just watching, oh no! Any trick she thought she could replicate, cartwheels, card tricks, misdirection, she would imitate to see just how difficult the trick was and if it could be allowed to be in a new show of hers. A few could, but she still felt slight relief that her tricks still felt the smallest bit better. She was supposed to be the best magician, she couldn't be upstaged just like that!
But after some time, her constant switching of channels and large, loud tricks, may or may not of kind of gotten on someone else's nerves, judging by the comments all around. Well that couldn't be helped, some people got more upset before they become happy! Plus, she had nothing left to do but practice, it was her only focus so far and she intended to do the best with what she always had!
Initially, Rira had thought the little mage to be any place but the rec room. One reason was the energy of the girl displaying a crave for attention and so the witch assumed that Faye was one to want to be outside, running the show. Not watching it from inside. Second reason being... well, Rira didn't exactly know anything about her. Had she stopped to study her at the few times they had met, she would've gotten to know her in and out. Which would essentially have shortened the search for her. Yet, the woman had pushed herself to go and make sure her assumptions were correct. Especially after the words of the boy she had encountered earlier.
"Well, well." Rira mumbled to herself examining the student masses. "You'd think a place like this would be noisier." As if on cue, she heard the small explosion of smoke coming from the TV section. "See?" Glancing towards the direction of the noise she huffed before making her way to the source. It was then that she spotted no one else but her target, playing with magic tricks not surprisingly.
"Oh what a coincidence, we met again!" She smiled upon pausing to stand beside Faye, her eyes examining the small mess the girl had managed to create. "I gotta say... I'm shocked that we have yet to introduce ourselves! We have met a few times now." Not bothering to look around, Rira let a smoke of blood convert into the solid form of a chair quickly before seating herself on it, her leg resting on the other.

Faye was in the middle of a handstand, and catching her hat before it hit the ground, when she heard a woman's voice. She flipped back to her feet, only a little unsteady from the blood rushing to her head and spun around to see who was talking to her. She had quite a few, no many, audience members she would be absolutely happy to see again, from mages even younger than her, and who loved her shows certainly, and even older mages who acknowledged her shows at all! This time it looked like an older mage, which she could work with.
And not just any older mage, the woman with blood magic who personally was in one of her shows! Lovely! Yes, she may have dropped her towards the ground, and that wasn't the most pleasant thing that could have happened, but that could have been an accident, especially since thed woman disappeared just like that afterwards. So instead she stuck her hat back onto her head, smiling and holding her free hand out for a handshake, whether Rira accepts or not. "Then I say nice to see you again!"
Faye would clap at Rira's magic, eyes wide. "I still think that really cool, and I'm the magnificent, magical Faye!" She would sit at a nearby chair herself, feet just barely touching the ground, and leaning forward on her hands. "So! What do you want to call yourself? I can work with any name. Also, why do you want to talk? Maybe you can be in another show!?" That blood magic will always, always be a spectacle!
Rira chuckled softly shaking the hand of the smaller girl. She made sure to look as friendly as possible and it was quite easy with the gullibility of the child. She smiled again when she noticed that her little trick had entertained Faye. Rira contemplated not giving out her real name as it might hinder her plans but she decided to risk it. "Faye? Suits you quite well. My name is Rira but call me whatever you wish to." In fact, a nickname would be very helpful to the woman. Nicknames are always harder to identify then actual, real names.
"Another show? Maybe in the future, however, I have a problem and I figured you could help me since your magic is the most fitting sort I could think of." Rira switched her mood to a less joyful one. She made sure to appear unpleasantly distressed, at least in her body movement as she crossed her arms together. "You see, I've heard of a certain crime group plotting something bad. Horrible. Since I reside in that specific area, I haven't been able to sleep well knowing that a group of criminals rule the place. So, Faye, I have come to ask for your help."
Standing up from her seat in a serious manner, the chair melted into a pool of blood before rising back up to swirl around Rira's finger and disappear into a smoke of oblivion. As she glanced down at her hands, she gave a sad smile. "You know, I could even join one of your shows if we manage to clear my home place of those criminals. Oh but of course, if you don't wish to help me, I am more than fine with that! I just figured I could use a little help of a friend." Rira knew she needed more than help. She needed a small army to ruin the people that had ruined her plans. There were two of them in mind, two that were currently ruling certain locations that she deemed possible to take over. If she would go along with it, she would not just take over, she would make sure the pair pay a price. She wasn't angry at them for hindering her goal. She was just irritated with them delaying it.

Wow! The woman looked far, far happier to see Faye today! She must be in a better mood today, for whatever reason that Faye didn't really care much about learning, she was just enjoying it. She shook the woman's hand enthusiastically, nodding after everything she said. "Of course Faye suits me, I haven't seen that many Fayes anywhere. And Rira? That's almost like a stage name, it's super unique!" She so meant that, Rira may not match too many types of positive nicknames, but it's coolness would make up for that immediately.
Faye listened to Rira's explanation with wide eyes and her head propped up on her knees. She only slightly deflated after being told this wasn't about a show, a true shame, but what she was being told was nearly as exciting as a show! "Whoa, you want my help? I never felt more useful! No, wait, when my circus needed me is when I was most useful, but you can bet this is a close second!" She swung her legs and leapt off the chair, imitating Rira's serious stance once on the floor.
But that serious stance didn't last long as Rira kept talking. Genuinely needed her?! Options!? Friend!? Was this a friend? She never had anything other than audience members! And she could feel a twist in her heart, like really happy people apparently got! This was like everything she ever dreamed! And she showed it, rushing forward and squeezing Rira in a tight hug while she was looking away. "Don't worry, I'm definitely going to help you out! Just make sure my schedules don't overlap, I still have shows to run!"
Rira's face lit up in a bewildered smile, her body stiffening a bit to the hug. She was not used to such close physical contact but she would have to put up with it, and perhaps contribute it back. "You would genuinely help me?" She grabbed the hands of her new, beloved friend, squeezing them gently. This had taken her shorter than expected, which was more than fine, it had practically taken her by surprise. The way this mage screamed gullible was worth a year of deception and lies.
"I will join a million shows of yours after this! In fact, we should get going right away so it won't disturb your work schedule." Rira beamed, pulling the girl down as she seated herself once again on a chair, this time a real one. "See, there's this group of criminals that claim they want to take over the city for their own purposes, which I'm assuming are really evil. I heard that they were planning to forbid entertainment business such as shows, theatres, musicals and everything exciting! They also lie to their people and say the don't, but they are actually working on it as we speak." She started, her information not entirely factual. She did have contacts distributed over the majority of professions and one of them, a scientist, had given her minimal data on the plans of the Isabello family. While she did not truly care for their future plans, therefore she did not ask further, she knew she could use some of it to turn this naive mage against them.
Her voice changed into a whisper, giving the impression that their strategizing would need to be kept private. "I heard they were planning on destroying Shanghai and I can't let that happen. What I need us to do is get there and fend them off, possibly destroy their work which happens to be located in specific buildings of the city. If we could do that, their plan would get delayed and much easier to stop! Would you help me in opposing them? Your magic would certainly take them off guard." See, Rira did not only plan on attacking the Isabellos. She was keen on testing them out, grasping a detailed idea of how their powers worked and what their limits were. She was also planning on seeing the extent that Faye could go to, perhaps she would be better of keeping her as an ally. After all, friends don't compete against each other, no?

"Of course, I do not think I ever had someone just trust me to help them out as a friend!" Faye let go of Rira only to throw her arms in the air from pure, undilated excitement. And truly, she even tried dancing around at the thought that Rira might actually be a willing participant of her magic shows, imagine the awe of the audience, but sat surprisingly still once Rira pulled her down to sit alongside her while explaining the problem.
Faye was already interested in helping her friend out no matter the problem, but apparently the problem have only grown personal. And Faye fell for it, hook, line and sinker. She briefly scrunched up her nose, feeling like her stomach twisted for some reason, before forcing a smile back on her face with a nervous laugh. "That's... Like stupendously bad, or another word just as big! I know, when we rescue the people from this problem, I'll do a show and make everyone smile, it'll be perfect!" She clapped her hands together, magic shows always were a solution that worked.
Faye nodded, then tried to "whisper" back, her attempt more alike to stage whispering. She could never get mad at herself for not being able to properly whisper however, the performance blood ran through her veins even in this situation. "If that place is destroyed there's just no way we can make the people happy again. Don't worry, I'll just follow your lead and take out the buildings we need to, my magic can work if I decide to concentrate, which I will."
She jumped out of her seat, posing as if she was a fighter. "We'll win and beat them, and then we'll all be happy! I sure even the enemy will be happy once we take their control away, they'll be able to see entertainment and shows again! We're doing them all a true favor." Aren't we nice!?
