After the debacle of Dubai, Gregory was considering making regular field trips a main focus of his curriculum. It was pretty clear that the students would fight harder and thus grow stronger if they were fighting over something they had some thoughts on. The training area was still going to hold the bulk of his classes, but forcing the students to participate in shaping the worlds was probably what his superiors were wanting anyway. He may as well give it a shot.
Inside the training room, instead of finding their giant of a teacher, students would find a simple note. The penmanship was sloppy, on account of the hurried writing. Almost no prior planning went into this, just enough for Greg to pick a destination. When he placed the paper, there was still some time before his class regularly started, which gave him time to figure out what he wanted to do.
"You want to get stronger?" it asked in large letters. "Then get to the Disaster Area! ASAP!"
Gregory wasted no time once he arrived. He identified a problem he had with the area within a minute - violent ruffians and thugs seemed the norm - and started considering how to solve it. Odds were good there wasn't any sort of organized law in a town of criminals, so he'd have to resort to intimidation. It was either that or find a more permanent solution, and he doubted that would be necessary.
The first criminal he caught up to broke a knife trying to stab him. The second snapped a club on his head. The third, fourth, and so on all followed in similar fashion. He didn't actually lay a hand on any of them, and was rather setting himself with a reputation of being impervious to harm. And, of course, he was being far from quiet in his shouting and chasing, all to make it easier for mages to find him.
If he wasn't able to be hurt by the strongest, meanest scum the city had in store for him, then that just meant that somebody that could beat him would easily be set up as someone with the power to go undisputed. That was his plan - either he'd be so strong that the city would have to change for the better to avoid inciting his wrath, or one of the other mages would defeat him and have the ability to subject the city to their whims. Given what he'd heard of the student body at the Academy, he couldn't think of anything better to motivate the brats.
INCURSION Either be strong enough to take charge of the city, or be beat down by a mage so they can have the honor
