Tristan stared as the flung shadow beings did nothing. It had definitely been trying to protect them before, though, so he was left with the assumption that he just wasn't hitting it hard enough. He did have one option, theoretically, but he hadn't exactly had any opportunities to test how well it would work in practice. With the giant angry manifestation of light, though, it was clearly a time to take some risks.
He retreated to the nearest sizable shadow, just in time to avoid being vaporized by a light attack, and got to work. He almost hadn't noticed Shades' request for the concentration he was putting into making sure that he wasn't making something that would immediately topple over on itself. "I dunno," he said, a small smile starting to form in spite of this clearly being a terrible idea. "I'm about to go do something crazy stupid and probably suicidal, but if you want to tag along, I'd be happy to have the company! I'm gonna go punch the fucker in the face."
As he said that, his beautiful creation finished slowly rising from the ground. If he'd been making an actual person, it wouldn't have been able to support itself, but luckily tangible shadow was lighter and stronger than the inefficient crap Nature had been using to make life. As it stood, though, he could already feel where the mega construct was nearing a complete loss in structural integrity. The ankles alone were already aching, and it hadn't done anything but exist yet. Tristan frowned as he considered it. Definitely not viable outside of emergency situations, barring some refinement of the blueprints, but there wasn't any time for that.
The construct, somewhere around a hundred feet tall, knelt down to lift Tristan Prime to its shoulder. In doing so, it knocked a few walls on a few separate buildings down, but at least it wasn't anything near the damage that the winged monster was doing even while having to deal with the mages. As an added bonus, this way there was less need for throwing an army of constructs around to suffer horribly. It was only one, extra large construct and its backup that would be suffering horribly. Much better.
"So, just so you know what you'd be getting into, the plan is that I ride this giant construct I just made into battle. This is almost definitely a terrible idea, but I'm out of other ideas of how I'm supposed to hurt this thing, and I really want to be the one to kill it." Steal his gimmick, would it? Well, he'd show it exactly why that would be a bad idea. He'd put the thing in the ground if it killed him.
The mega construct reached down to pick up the human passengers and a few smaller constructs, depositing them on its shoulders. It took a few unsteady steps towards the reappearing monster, the odds of such a useful reappearance quickly forgotten, before Tristan gained confidence that it wouldn't collapse on itself and started running towards the monster. As it neared, the construct jumped onto and then leaped from the sturdiest looking building at the creature, a giant, shadowy fist aimed at whichever face it was facing.
